I took an AP English language class my junior year of high school, and for some reason this lady thought it was a good use of our time to collect like 100 new vocabulary words every quarter. I don't think I've used a single one since.

Was "quixotic" one of them? Or "irascible"?

AP Physics was tough.
I could never wrap my head around light, sound, and quantum mechanics
Quantum physics is not intuitive so it is difficult at any level let alone at highschool level. Most highschool students do not have the math needed to understand kinematics, let along quantum physics.

I see...
The teacher also assigned a project to the class that at the time felt like a No Go zone to me.
Teacher: “Here’s your group of 3 people. Build a catapult to launch this eraser. GO.”
Me: “... wait WHAT?! H... how?”
Teacher: “Build a catapult and launch this eraser. The materials are in the supply drawer. Go.”
Me: ... instructions.exe missing... >>|{%!<|#**... malfunction...
Teacher: “Lets go! Let’s go! Everyone let’s get started.”
Me: “Are there instructions? Do you want us to-“
Teacher: “I don’t care how it’s done. No there are no instructions. Just make it happen.”
Now some people loved it, I couldn’t stand it. And yes, a part of the grade was tied to the outcome of the catapult production and how far it would launch the eraser. More than one catapults self-destructed on the day of destiny because the wood was too weak...

The most interesting part of math is unironically word problems, which... yikes.

Why did you feel like you had to be the designer of the group? Maybe you missed the point of the lesson ...
(3 minds co-operating equally will build a worse catapult, therefore you should each build one and scrap the two worst ones)

You mean like puzzles with letters in place of numbers, where all you know is what they add up to, and you have to find what 1-9 numeral each letter represents?
Simultaneous equations. Though it is more fun to suss them "by eye" and then make clever guesses. More fun: because the equations take a fairly regular amount of time, whereas clever guesses can be quick or slow.
