Foreign language, I have dyslexia and ADHD so that doesn't help. I get bored easily even when I'm on my meds. I feel like the fact that I'm learning it in school makes it less enjoyable.

Not in school anymore, but if I did wind up pursuing more education, it'd be anything I can't pass. It'd waste my time or money or both. I hate when that happens. If I paid for it, if I failed something it wouldn't be for lack of trying. Sometimes something is so hard that you just can't do it well enough to get a passing grade.

You can either try something else you're better at or figure out where you went wrong and correct it enough to pass the next time around.

It's a tie between P.E. and Math although the former slightly redeemed itself to me later on. For P.E. I dreaded it cause I was an uncoordinated oaf who could barely catch a ball without flinching, then I also hated being out there on sunny days since the sun would always blind me, and I despised the times we had to run up and down the bleachers cause of my phobia of heights. It got a bit better after sophmore year since I could take weight training as an alternative and turned out to be one of the best choices I ever made. With that in mind naturally I hate doing math the most.

It always been a struggle for me to understand anything past middle school and I pretty much passed every class my the skin of my teeth in highschool except for precalculus since I'm 90% sure the teacher passed me out of pity cause my grade was way too low to actually pass near the end of the semester. Like I just have an extremely hard time following all the steps I need to take to understand shit. Online math classes are even worse since the one time i took a statistics class in college I bombed hard since I could barely understand anything we where supposed to read. And when its not understanding the material my problems arise from the teachers as the worst math ones I've had was this one banshee for algebra in highschool that was super mean and some old guy that could explain shit in a intermediate algebra class for college. For the latter when I retook it since i failed I got a blessing in one of the best professors I ever had. It was the first time in years where I understood the material and I actually felt good after tests instead of a failure. But failing an online stats class in the semester after and barely passing my repeat of it the following semester soured it a bit. but yeah fuck math classes.

I chose art. Not because i don't like art, but because i want to enjoy art, i don't enjoy art if someone is telling me how to perceive it. A class is supposed to be educational, i don't want to learn about art. i want to experience it, i don't think i need to gain any knowledge on the field to do this.

That makes sense. Most people are never going to be producers of art, only consumers/appreciators of it.

Art "appreciation" is knowing some things to say about a piece of art. Besides "I don't like it much".

My interests in art are very very narrow and my heart just wasn’t in it when asked to create paper collage art, fruit paintings, and wood cuts. The mandatory art homeworks (“the sketchbooks”) had 1-2 exciting options everything else was a drag for me or else way way way too hard for me to do at the time.

Believe it or not in all the X years of mandatory art classes, we had ONE PROJECT (just one) that involved sketching a portrait from a photograph with pencils.

One.

That’s it. One shot. You get one shot. Ouch.

How is anyone supposed to do a good job at it unless they regularly practiced the skill at home before? It was absolutely no wonder 12-year old me was completely demoralized by the task and made a giant mess. Grid or no grid, it was WAY too hard.

Math.

At least with English or Economics or History there are interesting stories tied to the material, which is also (usually) somewhat practical.

But math is just plain boring, not to mention unnecessary for a guy like me.

The most interesting part of math is unironically word problems, which... yikes.

(Obviously this is from the perspective of a non-STEM person. I get that some people can jive with it but I don't understand the appeal.)

You mean like puzzles with letters in place of numbers, where all you know is what they add up to, and you have to find what 1-9 numeral each letter represents?

Simultaneous equations. Though it is more fun to suss them "by eye" and then make clever guesses. More fun: because the equations take a fairly regular amount of time, whereas clever guesses can be quick or slow.

Nope, I meant stuff like this: "Suppose I am going to pave a walkway that is 34 feet long by..."

Which are supposed to be examples of practical math, I guess. Because I'm really going to need to calculate the velocity of Jimmy's home run on a daily basis.

Ah, yes, the Princeton Hot 100... My favorite part was memorizing all of the Latin and Greek roots common in English words under the premise that we could puzzle out a word we didn't know on the AP exam by knowing the roots. Foolproof plan, I know.

First off, if you don't know the word you probably shouldn't be in an AP class.

Second, if you can't figure out the word's meaning from context you definitely shouldn't be in an AP class.

Third, you don't have time to break down the etymology of a word on an AP exam.

Fourth, just read a damn book and expand your vocabulary for crying out loud.

Favorite class of all time.

AP World History. That class was just amazing. It was such a thrill ride.

I remember the practice question was “write an essay comparing and contrasting the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty Chinese Empire from the time period ..... to ......”

On the actual AP test there was a huge essay question about the Olympics.

Hear me out, ELA is the worst class. Now why would a bookworm who literally prefers reading the communist manifesto to playing call duty hate a class where you basically read. See that's when your wrong. I mean sure from pre k to 4 grade is mostly re3ading and answering questions which I found fun and easy. However starting from 5 grade to 8th its all becoming an all writing class. Even one of my old teachers literally said "This class is not about reading anymore, its writing now". Of course of love writing, when I have creative control and I write about what I care about. However ELA does not allow for this. Instead it forces you to be in a box and write what they want you to write. But nowadays in this society if you don't have creative skills, you won't succeed in life. Creativity is in fact one of the important skills in today's careers. So to everyone who reads this, we need to reform schools to modernize with the times....
