Do the Saudis have the resources to have plausibly assassinated a scientist in Tehran? I hear very little about what their security apparatus is like.

I don't think they are responsible for this assassination, but the GIP would be capable of organising things like this imo.

They would have likely used chainsaws given how their last assassination went.

The KSA doesn't have a habit of assassinating key military figures of enemy nations, but honestly given the car this guy was driving wasn't even bulletproof, I don't entirely think they'd need to have that much in term of resources.

I didn't know Iran was communist.

Joke's on you: Iran means literally Land of the Aryans

This but unironically. The Islamic occupation of Iran and its attempted genocide by the Clergy is something that I genuinely wish to live long enough to see the end of, as well as a proper war crimes trial for every person responsible with its establishment or government this last 40 years.

A few protestors even chanted "Bring back the Shah" apparently.

More than a few. A monarchist future is possible even though i wouldn't like it at all. The shahs heir actually is a political activist outside Iran.

The monarchy is pretty universally seen with much-undeserved romanticism and with rose-tinted glasses in Iran. And it was a lot more than "A few". Republicans are in reality a minority among the Iranian opposition.

Hello, British Paperclip has noticed that you're trying to reinstate the Shah. Would you like some help with that?

Considering all the aggression from Israel lately and the fact that they've done this before I'm almost certain it was them.

That train went a while ago. Think about it, some monarchist young elites who were 30 or so in 1979 (lastest possible point of time) are now way older.

So the people for that are barely around there anymore.

The elite are actually pretty happy with the regime. The monarchist are mostly middle class families or young adults equivalent to millennials in America.

Highschool teenagers on the other hand are the most apathetic you can get with politics. But wierdly take no bullshit from Iran. Like none. Very liberal too. It's odd living in Iran.

Honestly not even liberal. Just a culture fallout from the result of living under a theocracy and having all forms of morality being associated with a corrupt government. It takes its toll

Well it's not the US.

I wonder to what it would lead if the IR government were ever to fall.

Why? Because Iran isn’t dumb. They know it was Israel and they know if they retaliate with any major force than the US will respond in kind. They don’t want that. So they aren’t going to play Israel’s and KSA’s game of poking the bear

Iran isn't dumb? C'mon man. So they're cowering in fear instead? Is that it? smh.

Not escalating doesn’t mean cowering in fear. Iran isn’t going to attack the US for something israel did. They aren’t that stupid.

Have you read my other posts in the thread? There's a context.

There’s not much context.

They'll eventually take it out directly on someone or some group, who's death(s) they would deem appropriate in meeting out justice on their terms.

Yes and those will be israel not the US. They’ll most likely attack a few israeli diplomatic and military areas and get hezbollah to lob a few missiles at israel. Basically a day that ends in y for israel. Nothing will come of it unless we want something to come of it

Remember, it’s only terrorism when the US disapproves of it.

Israel was, is, and will probably continue to be a massive burden on middle eastern society as a whole, but it’s unclear what anyone can do about this menace. It’s not 1914, war isn’t a valid way to remove international problems anymore.

War has always been a valid tool. Don’t kid yourself into thinking we live in an enlightened age
