Witchcraft/Occultism General

Postby Bluepillar » Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:20 pm

This is a chat for the discussion of witchcraft, occultism, and similar topics. The amount of things we could discuss here is myriad, but the point is that a lot of people are welcome as long as they do not come seeking drama. This was created after a thread pertaining to witchcraft exploded, and I realized there were people who genuinely wished to discuss the topic and surrounding topics. If you came here for that, or to meet other practitioners, this thread was created for you. If you're genuinely curious about or interested witchcraft, or occultism, and have any questions, or want to share with the class something you found on some occultist feel free. This thread isn't only for witches, or occultists.

I now see why you authored that vexing thread.

All I have to say is: damn, I thought paganism was killed off a long time ago.

I think there are movements to revive it.

Neo-Paganism exists, but I simply thought they believe in traditional polytheism and rituals and esotericism, I didn’t realize they actually believe in magic

No it wasnt really. Superficially yes, but certain undercurrents did survive in some ways.

Yes, there are.

And no, paganism has always been around. Like, pagan just means "non-Christian".

I genuinely do not think the Holy Roman Church was very successful in wiping out pagans, mostly because of the concept of the "hereditary craft". There are, like... old families that have dealt with this stuff for a while. They all learned that shit from someone.

Also, when an entire type of religion (as pagan simply means non-abrahamic) is forced to go underground, the imaginations it spurs of people doing exactly that are not entirely far off.
they/them, please.

There's even a movement to revive old world style Greek paganism in Greece. One of the men involved was actually... kind of smoking hot, iirc, but I can't really remember anything from that article I read except for him. I did, however, do other reading on it. It's very interesting.

Gosh I love hot pagans

Pretty much. Many local traditions, festitivies and legends and such are still based in one way or another on paganic origins and the likes. Altough often superficially christianized and so on. Same goes for many ancient sacred places and locations. At least in europe that is.

The notion that OP and OP's ilk are actually able to cast magic spells is, obviously, absurd. But I suspect that there are people in the world that are capable of real magic - though they surely do not advertise their knowledge on the internet. So my question is, if someone casts a real curse on somebody else, should they be executed, imprisoned, or something else?

They surely do, and have for ages. We actually have online communities where we congregate. I mean, we don't really have an abundance of temples like we used to anymore, and we all do have phones, and computers. I find it strange you think we didn't modernize with the 21st century.

And why do you think that no one on NS can practice legitimate witchcraft? And why are you so angry that you decided to target me? Oh, right. This is just drama from the last thread lolol Where you decided to call my faith fake with no basis, no logic, and zero knowledge about it just because you wanted it to be so so you could feel better about yourself

as pagan simply means non-abrahamic

Aren't the two different? Doesn't abrahamic include Judaism and Islam?

Yes, they are different. You're right. I misspoke haha.

The actual meaning is "non-abrahamic"

The Celtic countries specifically are standouts in this regard. A lot of local festivals even still straight up make mention of Celtic deities and things of that nature.

Because it's an absurd faith that is made up. Witchcraft is nonsense and its "practitioners" (if they can be called that) are as impotent as as an elderly gentleman with poor bloodflow.
