I used to hate pickles as a child, but over the past year or so I started enjoying some. I like bread n' butter pickles for sandwiches. Sauerkraut is also a good time.

Sauerkraut is easy to make, too!

For just eating, sweet gherkins. For putting in hamburgers and whatnot, kosher dill. Brand is pretty irrelevant; I just get whatever's cheapest.

Weirdly, at the local grocery store, the big jars of the store-brand dill chips are cheaper than the small ones. And I don't just mean cheaper per ounce, I mean straight-up cheaper. The 24oz jars cost a dollar less than the 16oz ones.

I had pickled carrots at an SCA feast one time. I thought when I popped the first one in my mouth that they were honey-glazed. It was... surprising. They were pretty good, though... basically like dill pickles, just orange.

In terms of a pickled thing, probably something like Branston Pickle. With a crusty loaf, some real English cheddar, and a nice Welsh beer, you have yourself a fine rustic lunch.

In terms of pickled members of the cucumber family, I'm very fond of Brooklyn-style Bourbon gherkins. Absolutely delicious, and ever so slightly spicy. Great on a burger.

Kinda basic, but dill pickles. Most nights, I'll make a deli-style sandwich with a ton of dill pickles and stuff it in the fridge so I have a to-go lunch the next day.

My favorite subject!

I do not like sweet pickles -- bread and butter chips, cornichons, you can keep them.

Picked green tomatoes? half-sour pickles? a good garlic dill? Giardinera (pickled carrot, celery, pepperoncini peppers, cauliflower)? Divine! Three bean salad/chow chow? Heaven!
