Oh come on, I don't agree with that user either, but you have to know how uncharitable that is.

They were clearly talking about how, in general, you don't see a lot of people call themselves wizards. If you're going to argue against someone, at least show them some common dignity, for fuck's sake.

Beyond the obvious above, depending on your definition, there are probably as many "wizards" as witches.

Like, is a wizard a specific term, or is it just a bloke who thinks he can use magic?

You're doing nothing but prove my point here. In wicca, practitioners don't particularly call themselves wizards, and in general, most people that use the occult don't, either.

Congratulations, you found out that the Ku Klux Klan uses the title of Grand Wizard for their leaders. It's been a long time since I've seen this level of bad faith in an argument, so I'll just leave you to it.

I don't particularly care what wicca does. Wicca doesn't have a monopoly on magic claims.

K. I mean, you were just asking about people calling themselves wizards. So I very easily found some. I bet I could find more.

Very few people call themselves wizards, and I'm p sure that's what AU was talking about. Most dudes who practice Wicca or some other kind of magic still call themselves witches, they don't really have an alternate title lol

Yeah. He kept opening threads about the inevitability of communism and hat a catboy avatar and was into legalism.

I'm sorry, I assumed you knew what I meant considering the context of the conversation. I was trying to say that it was unusual for people who practice magic (whether it's real or not, and I tend to believe it's not) to call themselves wizards, and that's clearly what Bluepillar was talking about.

Yeah, but so what? If even one person does it, they have just as much credibility as a million people calling themselves witches. None.

Do you still not see how that's still in really bad faith? Your initial argument was that somehow, that user was being a hypocrite because somehow they were making a truth claim about wizards.

Whether magic is real or not is something I don't particularly care about, but if you're going to engage with a topic, at least do so in good faith. Otherwise you're just hogging up space on the board that could be used for interesting discussion to basically throw obfuscated insults around like a monkey throws its own shit.

This is bigotry. You are complicit in genocide unless you address and refer to me by my proper titles as a wizard of the realm of Andalusia Centauri.

Uh no? If your going to claim someone is in bad faith actually address their arguments. Because Neanderthaland was very clearly pointing out that it was hypocritical for Bluepillar to use how niche "wizards" are to discredit their beliefs while complaining about people doing the same to "witches."

I just said people who called themselves wizards were rare, a fact I mention in case the intent of my language lay somewhere outside of the understanding of one such as you, and the vast majority of people that are witches or occultists prefer the terms witch or occultist - and, again, the only major figure I could think of was Oberon Zell. Perhaps Neanderthaland shouldn't speak on matters he's not an expert in. Then, perhaps you shouldn't come to his defense just because he fucked up. Some of us have lifetimes of knowledge on this subject on our bookshelves. Some of us insult the other's religions, intelligence, and validity. To imply I'm not a witch is to imply that the Pope is, in fact, not the pope. There's no difference, and I'm not the only one here that people could claim have a massive ego problem.

I know this may be difficult to hear, but you're not in the wrong, and they were acting in bad faith. I noticed the insults, too.

You really thought you did something, but the truth is you two just need to get over yourselves.

Whatever form of "supreme thought" you thing you have is as banal as it is annoying, which is quite, considering you're still going on about it.

You realize I would be taking up less forum space if you would stop posting "BAD FAITH!" at me every two seconds? Yes?

I didn't say they were being a hypocrite, I said I found it ironic. Though, as others have pointed out, OP is guilty of hypocrisy on several levels. Furthermore, I have contributed meaningfully to the topic, as both OP and others have remarked upon.

But I understand you have some pathological need to try and browbeat others. Well good luck with that. It's not going to work on me, since I have beat-resistant brow-ridges. But maybe if you try it elsewhere you'll have more success.
