Israel boycott group declared anti-Semitic

In addition to visiting disputed territories and internationally condemned settlements in West Bank and Golan, the US Secretary of State just declared BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) to be a "cancer" and anti-Semitic. Their move is one welcomed by the Israeli PM Netanyahu. Meanwhile, BDS has rejected those claims and responded by noting that it does not accept racism of any kind nor anti-Semitism.

BBC reports:
Formed in 2005, BDS has become prominent in many countries around the world. It calls for a total boycott of Israel, including cultural, economic and academic, over what it considers as Israeli repression of Palestinian rights.

Israel has long claimed BDS opposes the country's very existence and is motivated by anti-Semitism. It vehemently rejects any comparison with the apartheid - the state-sanctioned racial discrimination of black people during white-minority rule in South Africa - as a smear tactic.

So, is BDS actually a dangerous group and a "threat to Israeli existence" as the US and Israel have now proclaimed, or is this completely misunderstanding the mission and purpose of BDS? I think there's a difference between being anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, and Israel should not have responded in this way. I also believe there must be peaceful dialogue between parties with a goal of equal standing and a degree of self-determination for Palestinian people.

Also here's part of the BDS response:

“By this revisionist and fraudulent definition, even human rights organizations that are not part of the BDS movement but endorse banning settlement goods, for instance, as well as some 22% of Jewish Americans under the age of 40, who support a full boycott of Israel according to a recent poll, would also be designated as ‘antisemitic.’

The international community should put sanctions on Mike Pompeo.

Good. The sooner BDS and likewise [other] anti-Jewish organisations are gone, the better.

I mean wasn't Palestine there first? Man just because my religion originated from Judaism does not mean I have to support Israel. Jewish terrorists was a problem before Islamic ones. I am not one a one state solution and I also think countries need to sanction Israel since they keep taking the land that according to their treaty belongs to Palestine.

Problem is, there are a lot of them. Some even recognized by other Nations as actual military-Groups.

See people forget that Jewish terrorism exists but the reason most people don't know or care is because they did not hit us with a plane into the twin towers. But that does not mean we should not condemn Jewish terrorism. Jewish nationalism (nationalism generally is terrible) is a problem and must be fixed.

But didn't Palestine try to do the same thing and didn't get sanctioned back in the first and second Intifadas?

Open borders for Israel tbh.

Right, I also believe that supporting Israel doesn't mean you support Jews, or vice versa. I fully condemn anti-Semitic behaviour but still believe that there are actions Israel must take to ensure that the other half of their population receives equal rights. I also do believe Israel has a right to exist, just not in current state.

Please read my above response. To advocate for reform in Israel is not anti-Semitic.

So a group protesting the Israeli war crimes and ethnic cleansing in Palestinian territories is apparently a 'threat to Israel'. That's like labeling the Native American tribes which were resisting ethnic cleansing by the US during manifest destiny in the mid and late 19th century as a threat to the US. Oh wait. We know what happened next.

Oh, cry me a river.

Israel is not entitled to everyone's support, and people are well within their rights to criticize Israel over their human rights abuses and outright ethnosupremacist colonialism. It's not anti-Semitic to do so (hell, I know a number of Jews who do).

BDS is pro Palestine. Ergo: anti-Jewish and rightly declared as such.

Let me ask you this, who came in took their land that was palatine's for decades and laid claim to it? Israel! Now everybody is like "oh Christopher Columbus is bad because he claimed land that was not his and killed innocent people" yet these same people say "oh yeah Israel did nothing wrong and Jewish nationalism is ok". I hate Islamic nationalism as well all of it, but right now until Israel admits "hey maybe we did something wrong" I'm on Palestine's side...

Yeah, I wonder why Palestinians are anti-Israeli....

It wouldn't have anything to do with the pogroms they did against them, and the fact that they're colonizing their lands illegally, and bulldozing their homes, would it?

ok so if the allies lost world war II its ok for Hitler to set up concertation camps and commit more genocide? That logic is clearly flawed and gets anybody nowhere.

Not quite but when the entire Arab world fought and lost handedly multiple times?

Might as well give up.

ok:

The new restrictions were violently opposed by Zionist underground groups such as the Stern Gang and Irgun Zvai Leumi, which committed acts of terrorism and assassination against the British and organized illegal Jewish immigration to Palestine.

That doesn't justify killing tens of thousands of civilians and evicting hundreds of thousands more
