As much as SL is prone to silly hyperbole, in the case of helping an unelected leader overthrow a Democracy, I'd say yeah, it's fair to say that working a job doing that is not morally excusable.

Sure, but those staffers (which are the people Lumen is so gongho about them being without a job) also have bills to pay. It’s not as easy as just saying “well, stop working”. That’s idiotic to believe is the solution.

It would go so far as to say more atrocities than not are committed by people who say they're just doing their jobs.

We need an awakening. The cogs in the machine of this oppressive, murderous system need to walk away.

Then you are cursed to live in a where the people you think are even worse consistently win.

I suppose it allows you to continue to complain endlessly, which is a plus, and remain super cool by hating both sides.

I’m glad your theoretical dislike for voting for the lesser evil helped empower Trump. I bet you really like the outcome.

Perhaps I'm just letting my privilege show since I live in a country where losing one's job doesn't mean you're homeless in a few weeks, but having bills to pay will only get you so far as being an excuse to work towards the destruction of democracy.

Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

Once again, it’s easy to say “stop working” when we’re talking from a position of either privilege or ignorance as to the particular cases of each of those staffers. Ideally, your take would work, but we don’t live in an ideal place and yes, them walking out of a job, even if they find their bosses reprehensible, can indeed mean scarcity for them and their families. Sorry, but it’s not as easy as saying “you lot stop working”. For someone who bemoaned economic collapse in the CoVID19 thread, Lumen is fast to want that for others it seems.

I am concerned by the fact that it’s all in the DoD.

Congressional staffers don't usually sign up to work for a senator or representative with whom they share no ideological affinity anyways. And once you share an ideological affinity with your boss, you're more inclined to bend your logic the same way they do when that ideology becomes irreconcilable with reality or democracy.

Ugh. Looks like Trump's trying to cement control of the military by filling the DoD with his lickspittles.
