Yes, it makes them cowards, but what else is Trump of not a coward? Holding on to power so he doesn’t face the music legally? Don’t expect the Republican leadership to be any better.

It's unsurprising that the Republican Party Leadership is weak and spineless: they know it's over but because Trump holds significant power over the party and its voters (they allowed it to happen), they can't even speak up; if they do, then retribution is their punishment.

or Republicans could have had some integrity and kept it quiet but they have no integrity.'

They should speak up and if their base doesn;t like it find a new base.

How do you find a new base when your constituents are 80% Republican and living in rural Nebraska or something.

They’re afraid. And many in the leadership lack a spine.

So fear, then.

If there are lawmakers in one of your two major parties that are scared of respecting the results of a fair democratic election, there is something wrong with your politics.

If I had to guess, I’d say the majority of Republicans accept the fact that we lost. I don’t know that, since I’m not representative of all republicans, but I can’t imagine it’s any more than a loud minority that are actually willing to subvert the republic just so Trump can stay in office.

We appear to be looking at the beginning of a much larger purge of the DoD-- that is, replacing leaders of the civilian agency which controls the military with Trump loyalists

There’s nothing that makes democracy inherently better when a large part of the entire populace is politically apathetic, as is the case in the US. Military rule would ensure meritocracy in the government

This is the case that a lot of African militaries made in the 1960s and 1970s as they overturned dysfunctional post-independence civilian regimes. All military rule actually leads to is the military becoming a bloated, politicized organization no longer primarily dedicated simply to territorial defense of the nation and losing all institutional credibility.

In the US as it stands right now? Absolutely. I agree. But it’s all a group of leadership idiots have left. Hence why you see the likes of Cruz and Graham echo Trump. They have everything to lose.

As much as SL is prone to silly hyperbole, in the case of helping an unelected leader overthrow a Democracy, I'd say yeah, it's fair to say that working a job doing that is not morally excusable.

Saying any party hates or wants to destroy America just makes them sound a lot cooler than they are. Democrats and Republicans love the United States because they can profit off it.

Sure, but "stop working for them lol" isn't actually a reason for anyone to do anything.
