The election has been bad from a Democratic perspective. Trump is doing better in the popular vote than polls indicated (which I anticipated...

If you remember 2016, it took a long time for Hillary's popular vote advantage to come through. California took their time, and why shouldn't they? Popular vote is only symbolic and there was never any doubt whose side CA would go to.

I'm not talking about who wins the Presidency here. I predicted Biden would narrowly win the Electoral College despite winning the popular vote by more than Hillary, and so far it looks like that will most likely happen. I underestimated how well Trump would do in South Florida, in Nevada, and among among POC groups like Latinos and possibly Asians. (Not sure if Trump is actually doing better with Asians this time around yet. It doesn't seem like he's done any worse.)

I would've liked to see the Democrats flip the Senate and gain seats in the House, but the Dems underperformed the polling averages for individvual Senate races. Which means they might not win a majority of Senate seats, and a Biden administration might not be able to get a whole lot done. They look like they'll maintain their House majority though.

I never thought Georgia would be a swing state. I thought it was another one of the firmly red states like Mississippi and Alabama.

The growth in the Atlanta metro region has been huge. This is the equivalent of when Northern Virginia took over the state.

Apparently there have been attempts to get rid of the electoral college in the past. Problem is, both parties can't agree on how to do so. So....politics. that's why.

Problem is that it would require a constitutional amendment, which 2/3rds of the states would have to agree to. The redneck states will never vote away their disproportionate power. There's a thing called the interstate EC compact, where states sign up to simply give their EVs to the winner of the popular vote. It simply requires enough states to sign up that would give 270 EVs for this to effectively bypass the EC.

Colorado voted to join it this cycle I believe.

Nah. The forests of the Sierra Nevada are massive and it's some of the roughest terrain in the country, not counting the damage to pristine wilderness.

We did some controlled burns but in late 2016 the weather was so wet we couldn't get anything to light up. 2017 brought massive rains, Oroville dam almost exploded, and the forests were ripe with new plant life.

Which then dies and burns by 2018.

The residents of Paradise and Magalia had a habit of concealing their homes with thick brush and trees to hide whatever illegal operations they were doing (Meth, Marijuana) and that only made things worse.

If Georgia flips, Pennsylvania stays red, and Arizona flips for Trump, the score would be 269-269 and then it would be up to the House of Representatives. I'd be willing to bet Trump would win in that event, given that more states' House delegations are in fact Republican, so this gives me some hope.

What Trump needs to do if Georgia by some miracle stays red is flip Arizona and/or Nevada for him. If Georgia flips, he needs BOTH of those states. If Pennsylvania also flips, he doesn't have a prayer.

Edited as I originally wrote "...Trump would win in that event", which is false. My brain was thinking Biden but my fingers typed Trump.
Edited again as I was informed that such a decision would be one vote per state, not one vote per representative. Thus, really Trump needs 269 to win.
