Abolitionism in the North has leagued itself with Radical Democracy, and so the Slave Power was forced to ally itself with the Money Power; that is the great fact of the age.

Because the US is unique amongst developed nations and it being different is arguably a feature, instead of a flaw.

Did you just pull the Bethesda "It's not a bug, it's a feature" defense for the whole U.S. being the way it is?

Its not if the other person won more states. It's bad enough that New York for example, is solid red but almost always appears solid blue because of solely NYC. The popular vote is used at the more local level, so that should be sufficient.

Flipping the side again... when the urban demographic are accustomed to majority popular vote privileges, equality in political voice feels like oppression.

Very close, just replace 'urban demographic' with 'white conservatives ', and and add 'basic civil rights' to 'political voice'.

Apparently there have been attempts to get rid of the electoral college in the past. Problem is, both parties can't agree on how to do so. So....politics. that's why.

The United States is indeed very unique in that it has formed a cult of personality around the working-class needing to work even harder for even less.

Maybe California should split itself into 68 states with the population of Wyoming, each with 3 EVs and 2 senators?

That would be amazing.

At a certain point, deep diving into the electorate here is more of a study of fascinating sociology and less so of electoral politics and constituency groups.
