The biggest question, apart from whether Trump will run in 2024, is whether or not his base will turn out for a Republican that is not him.

If we see Mike Pence, Marco Rubio, or Nikki Haley as the GOP nominee, does the Trump voter identify with them as much as they did Donald? Do we see the huge turnout in tiny rural counties in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin? Can they appeal to the white working class in a way that Romney, McCain and Bush never and keep the Rust Belt Competitive as Trump has?

There are alot of question marks for the GOP. The amount of people, especially on the right, cheered by the fact that Trump did not lose this election in a massive landslide, that say a 2024 Republican victory is certain need to really be careful they dont go through what the left did in 2016. We largely assumed that Obama voters would be Clinton voters, that she could motivate the Obama Coalition.

We were wrong, and anyone calling 2024 yet is probably wrong too.

It depends on how much influence Trump plans to wield after his Presidency is over, and my guess is that he isn't going to retire into obscurity like most ex-Presidents do. Maybe his plan is still the original plan when he expected to lose 2016, to start his own media empire.

I think Trump could convince most of his supporters to come out for the next Republican candidate because right-wingers by nature fall in line, they carry out their orders.

When Bernie Sanders tries to convince his supporters to vote for Clinton or Biden, many of them refuse, because their ideology means more to them than the man. And when Bernie decides to stand behind a candidate who opposes that ideology, a good deal of his supporters say "then fuck Bernie too." That is how leftists are by nature. Not obedient like the right.

Oh I have no doubt that if Trump ran in 2024, he could pull the base together in some fashion.

But if doesnt, or better yet, cant (prison, not dead), then it would likely be up to another, more established Republican to try.

Unless Don Jr. or Ivanka want to take a stab at it.

The Trump campaign is already out of options. Even if they got late arriving ballots thrown out, it wouldn't be enough to take Pennsylvania and it would ironically make sure that Georgia is lost.

Of course they don't actually want ALL the late arriving ballots thrown out, they sure want those military ballots. But I don't think even the right-wing ideologues of the Supreme Court would go for throwing out ballots in Pennsylvania while accepting them in Georgia. And ultimately everyone from SCOTUS to state governors know that if there was some trick to keep Trump in power that they could pull off that the country would burn. No one wants that on their conscience.

Compare the health of French-German relations today compared to, oh, the Japanese-South Korean. Sometimes "division and unity" doesn't mean ending difficulties by shaking hands with the very people who caused those difficulties and pretending the grievances of the past don't exist; sometimes "division and unity" means a strict willingness to denounce the flawed ideals of the recently-defeated.
