In the United States? Mostly get beaten around by said political opponents, who held control over the police and the courts.

I find it amusing in a sad way that the right has a tendency to see political violence in authoritarian countries as being the result of socialism - as if the socialists are the only ones participating in violence in such countries - and think socialists in mature democracies have the same tendencies.

"Socialist" movements in existing democracies generally merge into mainstream electoral politics and achieve their aims through slow but consistent reform. Back in the '30s there was a lot of red scare propaganda against the SAP in Sweden, what with the bloody and violent Bolshevik revolution next door and all, but of course that never ended up happening, because of course Sweden doesn't have the same political customs as the Russian Empire did.

Antisocialists overturned way more democracies than socialists ever did. That's what you see when you really "look up" the past.

So what's the actual problem here? She wants to archive public statements made by Trump sycophants to keep them from trying to deceptively rehabilitate their public image post-Trump. If anything, that's kind of a noble thing. That's transparency. Do you want Trump sycophants to be able to erase their public support for Trump from the public record as they attempt to pretend they were Never Trumpers all along?
