This one batch of votes in Philadelphia has been picked up by some people, including a commentator on Fox News, as possible evidence of fraud. It’s not. According to Edison Research, which aggregates vote data for ABC News and other networks (and is the source of the data in question), sometimes election officials and vote aggregators unintentionally enter vote updates one candidate at a time, rather than entering all candidates together. Other candidates’ votes are then included in a subsequent batch.

That appears to be what happened here, and in the next update from Philadelphia, Trump got about double the share of votes that he was getting in the other updates from there during that stretch of time.

It's entirely explainable.

They don't really need him anymore. They most likely control the Senate and have a highly conservative Supreme Court. Trump can also come back in 2024, assuming he doesn't flame out horribly during these next weeks.

I actually see it the opposite: Democrats should have embraced left-wing socioeconomic populism. Polling may have been questionable on many things, but it clearly and consistently shows that Americans are very much to the left of both their major parties on many specific policy issues. But instead they wasted a lot of time, money and political capital on trying to court "moderate" Republicans with talk of civility, bipartisanship and unity.

That approach will only cause the Democrats to lose voters. More moderates would switch to Republican or Independent, or any other third party. And any immigrants coming from socialist countries such as cuba and venezuela would never support any Democrat as they see America becoming the very place they flee. Meanwhile all the progressives are already in democrat party, so there's nothing to gain on that end.

Again, though: the vast majority of Americans support "socialist" policies like Medicare-for-All. This week alone, almost two thirds of Floridians voted to increase the minimum wage while at the same time a slim majority of them voted for Trump. If you cut through all the partisan bullshit, all the many layers of discourse, propaganda and ideology, Americans as a whole are fairly progressive when it comes to policy.

The Heritage Foundation is not credible enough to report that the sky is blue, let alone report on electoral fraud allegations with any seriousness.
