I never tried to use Latinized marks for my NS name so I had no idea until now that you can’t use the ~ in official NS nation names. I thought since you could in forum, that translated to every other aspect.

I’ve always been curious about that. I used to read your name as Willie-Harla, then I realized the “i” belongs in “Harlia” not “Wille”, and just started reading your name as WH.

Like stated, OP gets curious. Comes with being a “cat with internet access”. Therefore, individually, how in hell do you pronounce your nation names? You can also detail why you chose that name if you want. Does it has a meaningful origin for you? Or did you just madly typed something random et voilà!, an NS nation gets birthed?

To start, my NS name is taken from a manga called “Loveless”, by Kouga Yun. The way I pronounce it, Japan don’t mecha kill me, is along the lines of “Nah-nah-zu noh Su-ki”. Yes, I am aware of the way the Japanese pronounce the -tsu. The name is nothing special. I was reading the manga at the time of my nation creation and... lacked inspiration and inventiveness so just used the manga for an idea.

I was reading it wrong. That ‘c’, to me, was like an ‘s’.

I always read it like Kat-ga-nih-STAN, with the stress at the end. As I understand it, it's the typical stress in Turkic and Persian languages spoken in the "stan" countries (also how they are regularly pronounced in Spanish too).

Yep! Though I really couldn’t think of any other name, so I stuck with it. Being a Filipino, I understand some Spanish from my teachers. While we don’t have an officially mandated Spanish class, my history and language teachers try their best.


Yep, NS allows nation names like 000, but not Piñas. Then again, that might just be weird to a small amount of people, considering some role play as alien empires or whatever.

Almost anything that is not part of the English alphabet is not permitted, so no ñ or ç, and no vowel modifiers like á, à or ä.
