Then you'd love religion. I never claimed that religion was any more explainable than atheism. In fact, its more "unexplainable". In Christianity, I believe that as a human it is impossible to explain everything and only God knows the answer to some questions. And its best to keep that way. If we don't something like that, its best not known.

See I don't see it that way. Because if God knows everything that means that everything is explainable by them or through them. It's knowable to something. That means there is no mysteries, only mysteries to us and there is something intangibly different to me in that.

I’m not saying it’s okay. I’ve been referring to the Umayyads this whole time and have repeatedly said most last empires ignored Islamic principles on this matter and others.

There are people who love Donald Trump. There are people who hate him. However no matter whether we love or hate him we all agree that Donald Trump exists. Neither Trumpers nor Trump haters disagree on the existence of Trump because Trump gives his speeches, shows up in photos and videos and tweets his tweets on Twitter.

There are pretty much no things such as strong atrumpism (the belief that Donald Trump definitely does not exist), weak atrumpism (absence of belief in the existence of Donald Trump), Trump agnosticism (not sure whether Donald Trump exists) among people who read news regardless of their political affiliation. We don’t have people wearing MAGA hats screaming “You must have faith in (the existence of) President Trump! We can’t hear him. We can’t see him. Yet he exists and is making America great again. If you deny the existence of President Trump then you must hate America!” Similarly we don’t have people wearing pussy hats screaming “Where exactly is Donald Trump? Of course there is no Donald Trump. Donald Trump is a myth. Those MAGA Trump fundamentalists are really deluded. There is literally no evidence that Donald Trump exists at all. We can’t hear him. We can’t see him. Trumpians disagree on interpretation of supposed Trump speeches since nobody even knows when they were forged..”

Why? Because Donald Trump actually exists and we all know that.

In the Tanakh there are people who obey the Jewish God and there are people who disobey Him. Yet there is nobody who disagrees that He is real and nobody who demands faith. Instead evidence is provided in the form of manna, Aaron’s stick, Uzzah suddenly dying etc. There is neither atheism nor faith. The Jewish God clearly exists and is even more real than one’s spouse, governor or king.

My question is: why don’t we live in the Tanakh today? Atheism and faith really have the same cause, namely absence of evidence.

Yup.

We do need to establish criteria to verify and falsify supernatural and spiritual claims though. For example one principle I use is that humans without any evidence of supernaturality are almost certainly not divine. Hence the claim that people such as Julius Ceasar and Guan Yu are clearly not deities and it is absurd to worship them. That also falsifies all forms of ancestral worship since it is even more absurd than worshipping Julius Ceasar. No matter whether deities exist I know that I’m not one. Hence any religion that can deify ordinary people are almost certainly falsified.

That’s a good start. With self-proclaimed prophets, visionaries, mediums, time travelers etc I propose that we clearly and carefully document their claims. For example “Japan will cease to exist in 2021” is a claim about the real world and we need to wait till Jan 1st, 2022 to check whether Japan still exists. Usually they turn out to be factually inaccurate.
