So, would you say that Pac-Man and Tony the Tiger are mythological characters?

Well I would like it if you guys focused on mythological characters from either Greek, Norse, Celtic, and other myths.

Myths are sacred stories from different cultures which reflect the values and beliefs of those places. It's why some scholars assert that mythopoeia is not a mythology because it is not the sacred narrative of a real culture which existed (or exists). If mythology simply meant something that was untrue the debate would not exist at all.

Ah sorry my mistake I know myths reflect the values and beliefs of a culture, but I guess I worded it wrong sorry.

The 666 truck, a story my cousin once told me which a guy he knew told him. Since it's the day after Halloween, I'll tell you this tale of terror.

Once upon a time there was a man named Steven. Steven was an idiot. He never considered the consequences of his actions and one day Steven was out on the highway heading West toward Ypsilanti. It was about 11 PM at night and no one else was on the road when he spotted a truck behind him. Deciding to be a badass, Steven break checked the truck and began laughing like a little bitch. He then sped away down the road. A few minutes later Steven faintly heard the song Keep Away by Godsmack. Turning to look behind him, he spotted that same truck speeding toward him, it's exhaust pipe cranking out black smoke. Steven could see the plate on the front which read "666," and the Confederate flag painted on the hood, with a shamrock beneath it. The truck revved its engines and sped up toward Steven on his 9:00. Turning to look, he saw the man in the cab and his blood ran cold. The driver had a shaved clean head with a blue swastika tattooed on his forehead and he wore a wife beater and jeans. He had a nose piercing and earrings and he turned to look at Steven, staring into his soul. "Oh you think you're tough" the man yelled. He reached down below his seat and Steven gulped in fear. Pulling out a shotgun, the skinhead aimed directly into Steven's car. "This is the last time you ever pull that shit punk" the skinhead yelled before he pulled the trigger. The shotgun slug ripped into Steven's car, and tore through his body. There was the sound of metal crashing against concrete and steel and then quiet as the 666 truck rolled off into the night, leaving destruction in its wake. Legend has it the 666 truck still drives the highways of Michigan, picking off those who dare to try and show off. And legend also has it that If you visit the location of Steven's encounter with the truck, you can still see the blackened burned siding of the freeway where his car made impact and burst into flames. Beware the 666 truck.

I do love the Leviathan! The name sounds cool, and has one hell of a backstory. ^^ A Basilisk comes second.

Too bad I can't put Valkyries here, given the term "creatures". :P I am all about the Valkyries, as you can probably tell.

Not a specific character, but I always enjoyed the Japanese idea of tsukumogami — inanimate objects that come to life after they’ve existed long enough.
And all the hypothetical Finlands.

I feel attached to Orestes and the whole cast of the Oresteia because it was the subject of my thesis.

And I'm fond of the Hadestown version of Orpheus because he's basically a labor organizer.

See, that was one of my main mistakes over that minor Ark of the Covenant misunderstanding.

I mean, the British forces in Egypt allowing a large-scale Nationalist Socialist excavation of a major archaeological site - and landing a top-secret experimental airplane - without any apparent supervision from either British security or the tens of thousands of troops stationed in the country is one thing. But it was (and this is slightly embarrassing) entirely down to me that Belloq found the Well of Souls. He was digging in the wrong place because he only had access to half of the headpiece. So don't believe those morons who claim that I had no impact on the events; it was only my unsubtle intervention, and inability to complete my hurried investigation before dawn, that led the Nazis to the treasure.

But at least all of those advanced breathing exercises allowed me to cling to the side of a U-Boat as it travelled across the Mediterranean, so I was able to make sure that the Ark found its way into the right hands after the Nazis were all dead.

Also, can I raise two other points?

First of all, can I apologise to you and my other Jewish friends for the several acts of blasphemy involved in that little Ark escapade. I'm deeply sorry.

Secondly, Marion lied to me about her age. I thought she was 18. Her claim that 'It was wrong and you knew it!' was an exaggeration in the heat of the moment; though I do regret my subsequent remark about how she knew what she was doing. That was unacceptable. I can only note that we approached these things differently in the 1930s. But I have grown as a man in the subsequent decades, and now fully accept that statutory rape of my mentor's teenage daughter was wrong.
