Why do Some Christians support Trump?

Ok, since the election is now a week away, I have a burning question for Pro Trump Christians: Why do you support him? What is Christian about him? I don’t mean to be rude, it’s just that this dilemma has frustrated me for four years, and I need some answers. I would like to hear why Pro Trump Christians support him / believe he is a man of God

First,I dont like Trump, and I am not an American.
Then, what is the relationship between a Christian and supporting him?

Because he promises to help them ban abortion and gay marriage and Muslims. The Christian right in America doesn't use their religion to inform their politics so much as they use politics to enforce their religion.

Sometimes baffles me too, since I can't imagine Jesus, for instance, being the kind of guy to support him at all.

Perhaps the social conservatism has something to do with it - quite a few fall around that area of wanting to keep things traditional, particularly with gay marriage, abortion etc.

It's not as though Trump is some scion of conservative lifestyle though.

Because he gives lip service to the pro-life movement.

Perhaps a more difficult question to answer is "why do they believe him".

None at all. Which makes the question pointless at first. Why don't you ask why some Christians support Biden? Or Sanders? Or basically other political candidates throughout American history?

Christians are the followers of Christ (not followers of Trump), but they're human first of all. There's a myriad of political ideologies among Christians. There's Christian liberals, conservatives, authoritarians, libertarians, pro-choice and pro-life, hetero and homosexual, etc. Not all pro-Trump Christians believe he is a man of God, and Christians (generally speaking) don't support him as well.

I don't know, but I'm sure it has something to do with the assassination of archduke Franz Ferdinand.

No clue. He's literally the opposite of Christian morality unless God suddenly okay'd cheating, possibly being a child molester, and saying you don't need God's forgiveness.

Maybe some of them hate mexicans more than they love Jesus. Idk.

You see, Alexander Kopranos was a radical anti environmentalist and mistook the Archduke for a rogue palm tree, so he shot him.

Everything in the modern political world is connected to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Sophie Chotek.

I mean, because he has. He's appointed loads of conservative judges, those will help with erode the rights of people to have abortions or gay marriages. He kinda managed a ban on Muslim immigration.

Oh yeah Trump's also friends with Erdogan, that guy who's helping the Azeris commit war crimes against Armenians, a Christian middle eastern ethnic group.

Where is the outrage from evangelicals in America now? Thousands ought to be marching in the street demanding he stop aiding in the Slaughter of their Christian brothers but they're silent.

Trump isn't hostile to Christians. The Christian lobby isn't as influential as it used to be so they're willing to settle for that.

I think Christians largely recognize that Trump is a sinful man, but its a common theme in Christian stories for God to act through a sinful person to fulfill some good, usually resulting in them having a moment of faith and redeeming/converting.

Oh he isn't hostile to them? Is that why he's friends with a guy who actively aggresses against Christians overseas?

You'll notice that Trump isn't the one throwing a temper tantrum about Catholics

American Christianity has since the Reagan era been mobilised into a movement that is as much political as much as it is religious. It is nakedly hypocritical in dozens of ways, yet it suits the political interests of politicians and pastors alike to go along with it. Combine that with the fact that Christianity in the US is closely tied to every socially conservative stance there is (all of which get projected on Trump- just look at how the right wingers here on NS talk about Amy Barrett on that thread) and you have yourself this situation, where nominally the followers of Christ are going with possibly the most shamelessly, openly immoral president in living memory.

Those are foreigners and not the right kind of Christians anyway.

No one is hostile to Christians in America.

There's hostility toward Christians in Sudan where Christians born to Muslim families can be executed for apostasy, there's hostility toward Assyrian Christians who have been forced to flee their homes, there's hostility toward Christians in North Korea.

But not a single Christian who lives in America has ever been persecuted. I went to Christian school, I grew up being told that we'd be outcasts for being Christians by people who neglected to mention that Christians account for 75% of the population and close to 99% of government, but I have no idea why so many have failed to get over this delusion, ranting about Obama (also a Christian) waging war on Christmas. And then they vote for Trump, saying he will save religious liberty. So a pharmacist can refuse to do their damn job but still expect to be paid, so the cake bakers won't be forced to serve the gays.

Don't think I'm ranting at you specifically but just seeing the words "hostile to Christians" really pisses me off because American Christians who think they're under attack are full of shit, like a rich kid saying "I have been through real pain, last year I had to fly coach to Aspen."

Nah he just says "I was friends with erdogan since day one" while Erdogan sends jihadists into Nagano-Karabakh to attack Christian Armenians.
