Why do Some Christians support Trump?

There's a difference between 'an issue for Christians' and a 'Christian issue'. LGBT and gun rights might be an issue for Christians but they've very little to do with Christ and Christianity.

Ultimately they're what's called political wedge points, issues devised to create separation between 'us' and 'them' for political gain. And they do easily blind people to rational thought given they're such easy 'values' to fall back on as the base of one's reasoning.

So the question is - do people vote for Trump because he represents their ideals better, or are they cherrypicking their own ideals to justify voting for Trump ?

Dunno, I mean the polarisation has genuinely caused me to question my own views, how selectively do I digest information.. it's kind of hard to wrap my head around people who profess to be christian to support such a guy.

Which begs the question.. why do some christians NOT support Bernie, despite him objectively being far more Jesuslike than Trump ?

Why? One doesn't need to be a Christian to serve the interests of the faith.

True, but then one questions exactly how Trump served the interests of the faith where Biden, who actually follows the faith would not.

The real reason is because he has an R in front of his name, and to some, that means, by definition they're a moral Christian, regardless of what that person actually says or does. Plus, I do think that many Christians who support Trump do so because they're phonies who only pay lip service to the religion and only care about power.

Yeah, I think that's what the problem is here, they only agree with Trump on a few things but not all. That's why a multi party system would be more democratic so people don't have top compromise on their views, ethics, and morals...

We have people who think he is like a prophet and savior sent by God. Either way, God didn't put Trump in office in 2016, the people who voted for him did.
