One could argue that they don't hate the poor children, they just don't care about them. At all.
Then one would have to go take a shower for defending the goddamn Tories.

Republicans must choose: Are they the party of Ronald Reagan or Donald Trump?
Reagan’s sunny, inclusive vision and principles are the antithesis of what Trump preaches
Sean O'Keefe Trump and the RNC abandoned the Republican platform and the legacy of Ronald Reagan

While it's undeniable that what the tories are doing is morally corrupt and evil, at least from my perspective from a moderately conservative, tory-voting lower-middle class background, I'm going to pull the not all [group] card out from my rear and apply it to tories. For example, many people I know voted tory in the 2019 election because of their forerunning policies, particularly the brexit one. I doubt they'll all be on board with this policy.
Yes, I defended the tories. What about it?

There are moderate Tories, so it's not the worst you can do. At least you're not defending US Republicans or the LDP.

Yeah Reagan was a shit human being but it's not as if Democrats aren't participating in the whitewashing of Reagan too.

I think they were the ones who voted in favour of the latest free school meals bill or told Boris to get lost. Regardless of Tory voter bases, the people who are elected by them are right of one-nationism. We no longer have centrists in government.

I don't like Tories at all, but compared with some other conservative parties? They're tame (at least on the outside).

The US Republicans are a big tent party. The don’t have a complete encompassing ideology, there are different types of Republicans

The absence of principles is what drove me and dozens of other national security officials who served in Republican administrations to back Joe Biden.
4. Apparently opposing the Civil Rights Act, opposing the Voting Rights Act, being against fair housing legislation, and fighting like a tiger at every turn against equality for racial and sexual minorities is having "principles" and being "inclusive."
Edit: Oh and I almost forgot, don't forget he called African diplomats "Those monkeys from those African countries."
Seems you're only picking and choosing to criticize Republicans for admiring Reagan while ignoring Democrats who are happy to give a platform to this historical revisionism to own Trump epic style.

Unironically, how do you separate "political disagreement" from "hate"?
Well one involves actively disliking and probably wishing harm upon the other, while mere disagreement can be entirely different.
I don't hate Conservatives, and I think most of them actively desire to build a better world and honestly believe their path forward is the best way to go. I disagree on said path, and some of the destination, but I don't think they're bad people for their opinions, nor bad intentioned.
Some ideologies are evil, though, and I do more than just disagree with those. Those I -do- hate.

1. American Conservatives, which at the time of the law passing was the Dems, but then that position shifted to the Reps when Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt. There's this super interesting thing called The Paradigm Shift where the American parties flipped their belief systems almost 180.
New haven america wrote:2. Not in any official or really public capacity, no. The first person to ever do that in the US government was Ol' Joe Biden who almost singlehandedly made the Dems support LGBT rights.
