Just out of curiosity, but then what would be to blame, if the cartoons' republishing didn't set it off?

If you want to know what caused them to commit violence - I am uncertain. The cartoons were a trigger, but why they acted on the trigger is harder. Islam ? Culture ? Imams telling them they should do it ? Voices in their head ? A teacup orbiting Mars ?

Im on France's side here. The terrorists acted to suppress freedom of speech (ie. the cartoon depiction of Mohammad) and those defending them are calling it "Islamaphobia" because it violates the rules of Islam. Freedom of religion does not mean freedom to force religious practices on others.


Now I dont think muslims should be persecuted but I don't think that people should get upset because France is getting a little bit tired of Islamic terrorist attacks

Imo Europe (us Britons included) needs to treat our opponents (like Erdogan) by not ignoring them but by getting the figurative swatter, like one would deal with any other annoyance.
