Well complaining that I keep refusing to make the argument you want me to make is one way to admit you didn't actually read the argument and were just trying to stoke outrage.

"The argument" was an unattributed quote. That you're unable to back it up is neither here nor there, it really just shows that quote things that strike you as clever, but without actually understanding them".

I'll argue the point further. You go and get the person who wrote it, and I'll argue it with them.

Arguing it with you, when you don't understand it, is a waste of both our time.

I'm not the one claiming that "people get upset when things aren't all about them" was calling gay people disabled. So going on about how I don't understand the argument is rich as fuck.

I'm not the one claiming that "people get upset when things aren't all about them" was calling gay people disabled. So going on about how I don't understand the argument is rich as fuck.

You don't understand the quote you dropped (as though it was your own, btw, that's not a good look). If all you can make of it is "people get upset when things aren't all about them" ... then you're barely getting half of it.

No, I'm not going to explain like you're 5, what's wrong with it. I'm not going to argue against it (because the author isn't here). And I'm certainly not going to restate the argument, because it's offensive to say that gay people get a privilege by having a parade (like anyone else, if they want a parade they have to make one). AND it's offensive to imply they deserve any special treatment the way disabled people do.

EDIT: Leaving it there, then. We can discuss this in a more appropriate thread.

As Trump casts doubt on election, new agency contradicts him

WASHINGTON (AP) — Earlier this month, President Donald Trump was predicting on Twitter that this election would be “the most corrupt” in American history. A day later, the head of an obscure government agency he created offered a much different message.

Christopher Krebs, the director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, closed an online conference with a warning about “bad guys, whoever they are,” trying to “sow chaos, sow doubt” about the integrity of the U.S. election.

“I have confidence that your vote is secure, that state and local election officials across this country are working day in and day out, 24/7, that the 2020 election is as secure as possible,” Krebs said.

It was just one of many ways that CISA has been offering a counternarrative as it works behind the scenes to not only help safeguard the election but also to reassure the public despite messages to the contrary from the White House.

That conflict could be on display on Election Day. Krebs and CISA will be in the national spotlight, monitoring the election amid the inevitable voting glitches and delays, which could be worsened by the coronavirus pandemic, under a president who has said he might not respect the results if he loses.

Krebs warned voters this week to “be prepared for efforts that call into question the legitimacy of the election” without mentioning that it’s the president who has questioned mail-in voting and has called attention to relatively minor incidents in which a small number of ballots had apparently been discarded.

So Trump's anti-corruption agency is calling out his attempts to corrupt the election.

Dunno. Here in Australia almost everyone votes every election and our Conservative party still manages to win an upsetting amount of times.

Well two-party Parties are only relatively left and right. I would argue the center is further left in Australia (compared to the US but not to the UK) and it could well be because of compulsory voting.

Making fools of themselves. It's obvious from the context that "coyote" doesn't mean a species of dog.

All they have to do is Google it, but to be honest, I didn't google much during either of the debates: there isn't time to follow the debate, comment on the debate, AND look stuff up.

I'll say again, most of those comments DIDN'T misunderstand the word, they only appeared to query it.

Events like this have happened before (I think the earliest case of this was back in the early or mid 1800s) and the courts ruled it was basically illegal.

Some civil servants are being made to 'walk the plank'. Their employment will end the day before Inauguration day. I think Biden can just re-employ them.

Others though, who were appointed instead of promoted on merit, might be made permanent at the same time. "Burrowed in". Just rescinding the order wouldn't remove them: they'd be federal employees by then. They'd have to be fired (not easy to do in the civil service) or the courts would need to get involved, to declare their employment to have been unlawful in the first place.

It might even be necessary for Congress to get involved. I hope not!

Actually, the point is good order and discipline. Military units are close knit communities that depend on eachother in life or death situations. Makes it hard if somebody is banging someone else's spouse. The regulation prohibiting it gives commands the ability to address the issue through administrative means, where as without it they'd have no grounds to do so.

The "midnight judges" were enabled by Congress actually creating the positions for Adams to fill. Most of them remained iirc: the new ones on the circuit courts. The new SC justices were reversed the next year (I think by attrition).

Trump's the kind of guy to call a kid with down syndrome "a dumbass fucking waste of space on earth who should have been aborted" and then turn around and say "hey Obama once called me stupid and he supported abortion which gets rid of kids with down syndrome so actually this is his fault."

But Obama is like the new catchphrase when Donald Trump does something awful, and 90% of the time whatever Obama did wasn't as bad as what Trump is doing in the present.
