Actually, the reason they are rich today is because of the Marshall Plan and the subsequent economic recovery, not colonialism as by that time, it was no longer profitable and on the way to extinction.

All the wealth Europe gained from colonialism was destroyed in WW2.

Compounded by the fact Europe has one of the best geography for trade, with it's bountiful rivers and inland seas.

And it didn’t help that while Europe was beginning its main colonial age, China was being ruled by the Qing who suppressed Chinese history and science to give legitimacy to their dynasty, and the Mughals in India destroying Sanskrit literature and vedic texts, suppressing innovation there, making it so there was no counterbalance to European rule in the world except the Ottomans (which were arguably European themselves, but that’s another debate)

I haven’t seen many people blame all French people for their ancestors’ sins (I DO know such people exist). I HAVE, however, seen people look at my mom funny when she wears hijab, seen a “President” call for people of my religion to be barred from entry, and heard people call me “ISIS”, “suicide bomber”, “sand n-word n-word” etc.
