Guess which one happens more often?

I'd chalk it up to luck or disproportionate trump based misinformation but this has always been a thing. They tend to make more excuses when violations come from the left.

To dip into a little bit of partisanship here, I've seen similar accusations made of this forum's moderation team.

I've heard accusations of bias from both sides with equal fervor which suggests moderation is probably doing something right.

Because they practice censorship, corporate censorship is no better than government censorship

You would literally shut them down because they don't allow the stuff you like on the service?

That's anti-free-enterprise. Aren't you supposed to "take your business elsewhere"?

Also if they were a publisher, they would have ABSOLUTE discretion not to show the stuff you like.

Corporate censorship is less of an infringement on free speech because government censorship applies to all platforms. Corporate censorship applies only to their own platform. Furthermore, government censorship will throw you in jail for violating it, whereas corporate censorship can only deny you the use of the service.

The absolute irony of you complaining about this on Nationstates, which has stricter censorship than Twitter does ...

Perhaps a bit of confirmation bias for all included, because I've certainly seen said accusation more frequently and fervently from the right inclined.

Unfounded accusations of course. There are also complaints from left wing nations that the mod team "is condoning fascist and far-right rhetoric on NSG so long as it is expressed 'politely'".

When it comes to cracking down on violations, both sides have their own opinions.

To stop being so coy about it, my eventual implication was less about the existence of said accusations and more that perhaps if the politically right wing are more actively complaining about being censored on multiple sites, then maybe the issue isn't that they're being targeted, but that they're more likely to engage in rule breaking behaviour.

While reading today about Ted Nugent, one of the most vile and disgusting excuses for a human being to ever curse the United States by living here, it dawned on me that all these Republicans who say "Trump made our party hateful and racist" are bullshitting. The GOP always had racism in it, but it bubbled under the surface and they tried to pretend that it wasn't them.

Another name that comes to mind is Ann Coulter, the pseudointellectual who thought we should basically glass the entire Middle East because some American backed jihadists turned on us and attacked us in 2001. No thought given to the complexity of the region or the United States' active role in promoting wahhabi terrorists while undermining secular governments. Just "nuke em." And millions of conservatives said "yeah she's a really smart woman with great ideas."

After Mitt Romney lost in 2012, I remember saying "if the Republicans keep assuming that farther right is better, they'll have a nazi for their candidate pretty soon," and they almost did. They had a white nationalist supported race baiter and now they wanna take it back and pretend this isn't their party. It has been their party since Nixon's southern strategy. It was their party when Ronald Reagan was going off about "Welfare Queens." And it was their party when Ted Nugent said he wished Muslims would donate more money to the army so "we can build more smart bombs to kill more muslims." And now these splinter GOP members wanna hide behind Biden like they're trying to distance themselves from the hate that is Donald Trump.

They were part of a party staffed with bigots for years but now it's too out in the open for their taste. I can't believe them.

its not illegal to be a fascist, nor should it be. After all, we're not fascists.

There are blatant 50 cent soldiers here and it’s pretty clear whenever a thread relating to China is posted and freshly created accounts come in to the CCP's defense

Ohh, can you please take the likes of Hannity, Tucker, Ingram, and others as well and then watch as so-called "Trump TV" fails like his steaks and vodka? Unfortunately, he does have access to a large userbase (the Campaign does have peoples' emails and phone numbers) so it won't drop as fast.

But you all are wondering: he's just doing this for the money? It's more than that. He's pissed that Fox called Arizona for Biden (the right call), as well as the network interviewing more Democrats than it used to apparently. Yeah, he's salty.

Maybe he will start a third party as well and take his cult followers with him.

Its a cult when you deny reality and pretend that everything Trump says is true. Doesn't matter how many people buy into the propoganda.

Certainly not the case.

You'll find that most on the right love Trump, but we can admit that, by god, he needs to filter his twitter. My idea is that he gives Melania access to it and just saves his tweets as drafts, she can check it a few times a day to see what gets tweeted and what doesn't.

70 million voter for a man whose openly racist, xenophobic and a wannabe dictator and also denies reality. A number of his cult followers think Trump is the rightful winner.

Ahahaha. That is never going to happen, altough nice idea.

I've seen it mentioned that once he steps down from office, his account will lose the protected status that many important figures/organizations have, and will once again be subject to potential deletion based on violations of Twitter's ToS.

Not sure how true and/or likely that is however.

Melania is bringing divorce proceedings next year. She'll want custody of Barron, not Donny's bloody twitter account. :eyebrow:

I wouldn be surprised if she does.

Maybe then Trump can marry Nikki Haley or Katrina Pierson

He really is. It's nice that he has a direct line to everyone, but at the same time, he never got that talk as a kid, about whatever you put online, everyone can see forever.

Ha! Fair enough. Unless, when he's thrown out of the white house, the shock of being forced to realize that he lost for the first time in his life kills him. (Not the first time he's lost, just the first time he's been made to accept it)
