It was past twelve in Moscow when I posted that and nearly twelve in Johannesburg now which is on the same time zone as Poland I think.

Poland's only one hour ahead from the UK. Same in Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Belgium...

EDIT: Russia has multiple time zones; for instance: Kaliningrad is two hours ahead and Magadan is eleven hours ahead.

If you abolished your fascist Francoist timezones and returned to GMT where you belong you wouldn't have this problem!

Do not believe Ethel, for the Parisian subways most certainly make use of rails. It's just that the wheels of their subway trains have rubber tires, so that they can stop faster. Rubber on steel has a lot more friction than steel on steel.

Some Parisian metro lines Ethel is actually indeed correct, it just hasn't rolled (hyuck) out fully. There's steel backup tracks for emergencies but they're not connected by default, pure rubber baby. If I remember the articles at the time correctly it had something to do with actual speed as well as the fast braking, and also allowing trains to travel beside each other closer on more narrow lines

I have talked to a few Paris metro and rnr(?) Signaling folks, I wish I did go back a few years ago I would have paid a lot more attention to how they do things.
