While I wouldn't argue that it is gone, the 500 limit is not a rule breaking thing.

The 500 limit is a technical thing. We used to have 1000(and before that: none), until [v] noticed that a 1000-page thread was clogging up the server, so she halved it to 500.

That means that at 500 a thread gets closed, but 501 or even 510 won't suddenly be a complete disaster.

The mods that finish prematurely at 495 or so, well, draw your own conclusions

At what point should it become rule-breaking? Because, I mean, this here *gestures at the page number* is getting a bit ridiculous.
