Sure, but the impact around the world is minimal, compared to the noise it generates.

I'd argue that Haber has had more of an impact on most lives here on NS, even if they don't know it. And I'll stick with Gorbachev as the guy alive whose actions were both good and bad, and had more impact than the ones of Trump (so far). Trump is a domestic nuisance inside the USA. The impact of him on my daily has been minimal. Gorbachev, well, he's a key player in the reunification of Germany, I would not be able to travel across the city.

And he was a big part in the process that eventually dissolved the USSR and warsaw pact. That definitely impacted lives around the world.

Considering Gandhi’s support of the caste system directly lead to the caste being enshrined as “separate but equal” in the Indian constitution, and continues to plague India to this day, I’d say that’s very impactful

I may not closely follow Indian politics but that is definitely something that can be attributed directly to Gandhi’s views

5000 years of recorded history to choose from, and there's only 3 nominations so far (when I started writing this post) from before the 15th century AD (excluding God). That leaves you 3500 years of history to play with.

Octavian/Augustus, Mohammed, and Genghis Khan aren't bad as pre-modern nominations go, but you could do so much better if you tried.

Khufu, Sargon of Akkad, Akhenaten, Alexander the Great, Qin Shi Huang, Constantine the Great, Khusrau II, Wu Zetian ... there's so much material to work with here if you put just a bit of effort in.
