Nope, so it'll probably just happen and life will continue on as always, until the Reps start curtailing freedom of speech, religion, protests, 4th amendment, etc...

My guy the 4th amendment has been continually getting assaulted from all sides longer than you or I have been alive.

Mitch McConnell, steward of democracy...?

Yeah, democracy is fucking doomed.

He's done well on the issue before. He can do it again.

How can you decide after the election?

You didn’t but the mail is slow.

Here it’s five days after the election

Yep. McConnell has spent decades telling y'all to your faces that he cares more about gaining and maintaining power than about preserving any republican or democratic norms. Why would this be any different?

Look at Kentucky governor election last year.

Who thought of that? That's dumb. Its like here in New York where absentee ballots can;'t be counted for two weeks. Who thinks of this stuff?

In order to be counted, ballots have to be postmarked by election day(ballots with illegible postmarks usually have earlier deadlines). They have to be received by a deadline usually set after the election.

From my perspective, Democrats are conservative, just for reference.

To the rest of the world. But if you compare them to the GOP, they seem left.

That's reasonable. I have doubts McConnell said what he did. Could you provide a source.

More like we ran into the bullet.

Sanders would be way more left wing than Biden, so we dodged a bullet there. The normalization of socialism will eventually lead to economic collapse or communism

I don't know, we already have economic collapse.

Do you even know what socialism is? Medicare, Medicaid, social security, farm subsidies, food stamps, welfare, all that is socialism.

Clearly neither do you, that's not socialism.

Biden, at least, would let us elect someone better. We need patience, and then we will save democracy.

No. No he would not. The eventual end of voting for the lesser of two evils is that you're stuck in a downward spiral. Also, there is no time to wait. "Patience" won't save us. Decisive action will. Biden will only lead us further into "corporate hellscape".

No, actually, it isn't.
so·cial·ism
/ˈsōSHəˌlizəm/
noun
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Welfare is not socialism, and I'm tired of pretending that it is.

Yes it is, actually.

All of those are socialist ideas and policies, which explains why the most of the Reps are so keen on getting rid of them.

Just a welfare state...though I suppose I'm somewhat socialist since I'm a fan of nationalising public utilities.

American right-wingers talking about all the evils of socialism and accidentally describing the current state of capitalism as they do so. You love to see it.

Right-wingers don't care to make the distinction, so why bother? If anything, embracing the "everything to the left of Thatcher is communism" is good PR fuel for communism, because that category includes a lot of good, overwhelmingly popular shit. 8)

Which, again to reiterate, is usually all grouped together as hardline communism by right wing fear mongers. Hell, in recent months "Marxist" has just become a catch all term for anyone who opposes the GOP. When these people are talking about communism and socialism, it's usually not actual communism or socialism.

Then shouldn't we do something to avoid legitimizing them?
