2020 US General Election Thread IX: One Month and Counting

I am not following the American election very closely, but I hope whoever is the anti China candidate wins

That describes neither Biden nor Trump. Trump is a fake anti china warrior that is actually in debt to the chinese and his recent trade deal was still unfairly in China's favor, and Biden is more than open about his willingness to "mend relations" with the evil empire.

It's a very low-key race, but with the low margin last election (Joe Wilson won by 6%), plus Biden and Harrison showing strength in SC (decent chance of SC being in the single digits), it could be pulled over the line. Plus the district has a mix of suburbs and a big city (Columbia), and the candidate there (Adair Boroughs) has shown some major fundraising strength.

It's unlikely to flip, but it could be a major sleeper.

Depending on how well Jaime Harrison and Biden do, South Carolina could very well be in the makings of slowly turning blue.

Harrison could win but South Carolina going blue anytime soon seems unlikely. Carter was the last democrat to win it.

Its plausible and polls in Kansas have bene surprisingly tight. An upset in the senate race seems possible and maybe for President. Republicans have destroyed that state. The already lost the third district which is Kansas city and a number of its suburbs. Its possible they could lose the 2nd which contains Topeka and Lawrence.

Dave Wasserman has released a list of historically red counties he think Biden has an excellent chance to flip. I didnt look up all of them but some haven't voted Democrat in decades

The list he includes: Maricopa, AZ,. Phoenix is the county seat. If Biden wins this country he wins Arizona. (last Democrat to win it was Truman in 1948)

Yeah, if states with heavy suburbs and college educated folks keep trending blue, there's gonna be more states with heavier EC votes becoming dem/tossups (AZ, TX, NC, GA, SC, KS) then states turning Rep/tossups (IA, OH, PA, MI, WI)

True however the 2010 and 2014 midterms were evidence of the long term shift of rural areas to republicans. 2018 could be the reverse for metro areas. We saw continued evidence of that shift in Virginia In last year and in Louisiana as well as county and municipal elections nationwide.
