He'd rather focus on COVID-19 and climate change than get into the weeds about court packing. I expect Trump to continue to hit him on it, although he's gone off in some weird directions (the SEAL Team 6 conspiracy talk, for example).

If I was Trump, I'd focus on that and trade policy.

If I were a leftist Democrat I would want him to say court packing is still on the table. That would motivate me to vote, better than the single-digit chance there will be an opportunity in the next 4 years to move the court back towards the center by death or retirement.

The more I hear people who aren't leftists say how Terrible and Unprecedented court packing would be, the more I think Why The Fuck Not. Adhering to precedent is the credo of losers who get shit pulled on them but are too chickenshit to fight back.

Biden's in a bind, since he's basing his campaign very much on median voter theory. At the same time, he can't alienate the leftist elements of the party. It is a challenging balancing act.

Trade policy seems to be a weakness of Biden's (electorally anyway) but it's hardly a strength of Trump's.

Trump's a real estate developer, he should know all about glass houses.

Yes. If he's going to rule out court stacking, he needs to do it in a way that holds out hope to leftists: Maybe he's lying. Maybe he'll change his mind. Maybe he'll do something else with similar effect.

It's not actually that hard. It's much easier than telling people what they want to hear ... it's leaving a little doubt that only those who already support and DON'T want to hear the opposite, will notice. Keeping your friends is easier than making new ones I guess.

In fun more local news, reminder that Culp is a moron and why is this the best Republicans have to offer at this point? Culp gets worse and more pathetic the more I learn of him. There's a reason why Inslee is predicted to win by the largest margin of his governor career.

“The problem with Democracy — you can look at quotes from famous Chinese leaders like Mao, Gorbachev — they loved Democracy because Democracy is a step toward socialism, which is a step towards communism."~Republican candidate for governor Loren Culp

I had no choice but to respond to this particular unnecessary post from you. You have made it very clear too me.

Don't worry it wont happen again by accident or intent. It was an honest accident. I should not be able to see your posts or at least quote them.

At least put my nation on ignore if you wish. I am not stupid enough to use any of my over 150 NS nations to get over an ignore list with anyone and get banned for ever from NS which I love the RPs and General and NS which we all love.

Trade policy seems to be a weakness of Biden's (electorally anyway) but it's hardly a strength of Trump's.

I'm kind of surprised that he hasn't tried to connect the COVID-19 pandemic, China, and trade policy together all into one argument. Something like "Biden's weak policies on trade and China led to the erosion of our industrial base. This directly led to the PPE shortage we saw during the COVID pandemic."

He's said things kinda along those lines. "Obama left the cupboards empty", "China sent us this horrible plague", "Biden is weak on China", etc.

I don't watch his rallies regularly, maybe he's done this. Peter Navarro types have brought it up, but I haven't seen Trump put it all together like that.

OK, I've formatted that so you seem to be reply to me.

I think Trump's changes to trade policy have been a big yawn.

Nobody talks about Trump's changes to NAFTA. He seems to have made small changes, only with Mexico, and then renamed it. Can you even tell me (without looking it up) what the North American Free Trade Agreement is called now?

He tore up the Trans Pacific Partnership. No actually, he just withdrew the US from it. The US, then Japan, were the biggest economies involved, and this gave the US enormous negotiating power to change the treaty before ratifying it. Instead the US withdrew unilaterally, giving the other countries (including mine) no choice but to renegotiate it and pass it anyway. Instead of reforming the treaty to US advantage, Trump just pulled the US out and the treaty happened anyway. Sure the US can still join, but the changes that actually did happen were the removal of some copyright and other provisions that only the US wanted. So what's available now is WORSE for the US than what you could have had in 2017 or '18. Top negotiating there, Donald.

But the main game is Trump's treaty with China. Tell me three things that are good about it.

You don't know what Biden's trade policy is. Don't lie.

The post above this gives you a great opportunity to say what is so good about Trump's trade policy.

The treaty with China for instance. Can you name it?

Honestly this separate Town Hall format is probably better than having Biden and Trump on the same debate stage talking to the people. Though that contrast still straight up on the debate stage would have been really good, too. Someone giving good, proper answers, while the other is just rambling.

That's really unhelpful.

Though yeah, Trump's attempts to cut his family in to foreign deals has been hilariously unsuccessful. Either the family REALLY suck at business, or even the Chinese and Russians veer away from such blatant corruption.

Yes, do get back to me.

Looking things up is good: I would be wrong about one time in four, if I didn't look things up to be sure.

However, I did not say that Trump's trade policy is BETTER.

I literally don't know Biden's trade policy, except that he voted for NAFTA (a point in his favor btw). It would be dishonest to say that Trump's trade policy is better or worse, even though Trump's trade policy does suck red hot shit.

Staying on stage to take questions over-time is definitely what I would advise. It's respect for the audience, like going back out for an encore because they won't stop applauding. How it looks, not necessarily how it is.

And maybe the Town Hall format with both candidates at once, would have been less subject to them interrupting each other? That is always rude, but in a TH it is rude to the questioner, which doesn't look good.

The Trump campaign says that watching Biden's town hall was like "watching an episode of Mister Rodgers Neighborhood" and I'm like, are you really supposed to find selling points in favor of voting for Biden? Why are you doing the work of Biden's campaign for them?
