They're opposed, they just don't want to cause a scene before a major election. It's a little cynical, definitely, but I understand the reasoning. The Kavanaugh hearings arguably knee-capped candidates like McCaskill and Donnelly back in 2018, and they don't want the negative publicity shone on them, particularly in key swing states.

Ditto, and I say this as a white dude. Even in ordinary conversations, it's pretty easy to pick up on the racist attitudes of others when they feel that you will turn a blind eye or even agree.

Had a guy rant to me about how some guy we know who is Albanian is "a foreigner and he's not welcome here. He should be sent back from where he came with his fucking little brother." That made me uncomfortable to say the least. Like damn what does he think about me?

Funny how the companies do business with the Chinese government. You're comparing two sides of the same coin.

Also, modern companies absolutely can carry out genocides. Let's not forget that some people have been forced to ration out lifesaving medications because they can't afford as many doses as they actually need.

They're playing it as well as it can be played. Especially with a federal election in 19 days. I feel a majority of voters will deliver a decisive answer to the GOP for this maneuver. However, those voting third parties will sacrifice any role in that rebuke.

I'm not watching for a few reasons, you can decide what's the biggest driver:

1. No, you don't get my attention. You spazzed out and refused to face your opponent. If you wanted me to hear what you had to say, you would have shown up.
2. The Lincoln Project, Biden campaign, and hand wringing news casters will tell me all the insane bullshit he'll say without me having to endure an hour and half of it.
3. I don't have a convenient way to stream it while ABC streams on HULU.

This works better, they're asking pointed questions about Biden's history and he's allowed to articulate an in depth answer and on more than one occasion has checked if the town hall member had a follow up or in one case offered to have a conversation with the guy afterward because he sensed that he didn't get the answer he wanted. That's not going to grab any headlines, but it's better than another set of headlines about two old men haranguing each other.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Ice Cube's Contract with Black America has affirmative action in the second section.

Congrats to the President if he did really consult with the far leftist, but don't hold your breath for Trump or the Republicans to actually do a damn thing. At most Trump will harvest some jargon, use that like Black people are stupid and only respond to buzzwords ... then probably, say that isn't what the words really mean.

Also, you're black? Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I could have sworn you identified as Asian. You might be relying too much on the "people of color" label and actually being a bit racist, if you're asserting that Blacks and Asians have common cause just by not being white. Are you actually claiming "white privilege" ..?

That's the "a vote for a third party is a vote for Trump" fallacy, recycled.
Third party votes demonstrate "neither" and are a rebuke to both Biden and Trump.
That's not "no role in the rebuke" more like "half strength rebuke".

It remains true that Not Voting is not a meaningful rebuke.
What can be sufficiently explained by laziness will never be dignified as rebuke!

Alright, I more or less understand people who don't really get what Biden's position on fracking is. It kind of sounds like "I'm not going to ban fracking, but you'll have to fix the consequences of fracking and also I'm going to work towards eventually making it obsolete by promoting and developing other sources of energy."

Or, "I'm not going to ban fracking but make it too complicated and expensive to compete with other forms of energy so that eventually it will ban itself."

But answering the question so as to annoy people who want fracking stopped AND people who don't.

So Trump finally explicitly denounced white supremacy, only to immediately fail to denounce the maniacs who believe that Democrats are satanists.

Also, Biden needs to be clearer in his refuse to pack the courts. I know he's said so already but he should do so several times more just to get the point across.

Did he do it on TV or behind closed doors to a reporter? His whole campaign was a white supremacist campaign.

An actual denouncement or a "I have to say this so I don't get cancelled but we all know the truth so stand back and stand by *wink wink*" denouncement?
