I do think the extreme anti-abortion and anti-LGBT types are going to be very disappointed though.

The court will most likely not ban abortion and definitely won’t reverse LGBT rights. They will however reverse Roe in the sense that states can decide abortion laws.

Which is a gain on that front, frankly I don't care about LGBT rights, and there are other issues the court is likely to favor me on with more Republican appointees.

Getting a little down in the weeds but a new poll for Miami-Dade mayor has Democrat Levine-cava leading Republican Bovo by 13 points. So there is not confusion this is mayor of the county not the city. For some reason they use the term mayor for head of the county.

Winning This election would be a major victory for Florida democrats

Its mostly because Unincorporated Miami-Dade is effectively a giant city...or a giant swamp with nothing in between.

I suppose that makes sense. Mayor seems like an odd name for head of a county to me though.

I kinda doubt they would even reverse roe v wade fully; they probably would just further weaken it rather that outright reversing the decision imo.

McConnel has the votes(read: GOP senators are willing to fall on their swords for) a nominee who's deadly serious about reversing Roe. It is quite plausible that he does not have the votes for one who isn't.

Not him specifically, but Georgia is competitive in both its Senate races and Presidential contest, it's likely that a lot of voters in Georgia are faring similarly.

Highly unlikely, but there are certainly cases I'm interested in that aren't the whole sale invalidation of the NFA, or even the Hughes Amendment.

There's very good legal arguments to be made that Hughes is unconstitutional, yeah. The NFA won't go away because it's simply a taxation matter, but killing Hughes is genuinely possible.

Indeed, but 3 of the current SCOTUS judges (Roberts, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh) probably wouldn't support overturning Roe vs Wade completely.

Under the rule, no Senate committee or subcommittee can meet after the Senate has been in session for two hours or after 2 p.m.

Kavanaugh at least has every reason to overturn Roe as a grudge against the left, if nothing else. Gorsuch and Roberts, possibly true, but you only need one of them.
