I'm not sure about that. A party or even a sizable amount of a party willing to discard him doesn't pull the kind of stunts they did at the convention.

That was before RBG died. The GOP has marched lock step since about 5 years after Roe in pursuit of the court. Donny is has been their useful idiot. Once the deed is done they'll need someone just like Pence. Think about it.

I have thought about it, and personality cults don't break easily unless someone high inside it is wielding the hammer. Remember, there's still a chance Trump will win this year. Then what happens to them when they've been completely subjugated by the populist right?

Exactly correct and they're willing to lay down their political lives, that is, all... but for Donald Trump. I don't know if he fully realizes what he's unleashed.

The nation currently has an official 4 to 4 even political divide ratio of Conservative Republican and Leftist Liberal Democrat US Supreme Court Justices, this does not work, the justices need a tie breaker vote, on most issues not all issues, but the court cant work with a 4 to 4 even political balance. A good logical reason for President Trump to do so.

President Trump as a Republican President is of course going to choose a Conservative Republican US Supreme Court Justice, just like a Leftist Liberal Democrat President would choose a Leftist Liberal Democrat US Supreme Court Justice any time during their administration if a vacancy occurs.

President Trump has not unleashed anything, you all just happen to strongly disagree with conservative Republican views. Whatever you guys think of Trump Personally, however much many or all of you hate him, Trump is still a Republican and will nominate a highly qualified US Conservative Republican US Supreme Court Justice, and hopefully confirm his nominee at any time when a vacancy occurs, as he is allowed to under the US democratic constitution, for the voters who elected him and even for the nation. He has this right, duty and obligation to do so.

The GOP has already been subjugated by the "populist" (who push policy that, broadly, aren't very popular) right, they have to appeal to the Trumpian base and adopt his rhetoric to try and get elected these days.

Donny's gonna lose because this move on the court will drive up Dem turnout more than GOP turnout. Pence is there on the scene already. Ponder it further. He's an Evangelical. Mike has plans to run in 2024. Biden is a Catholic and they fist bumped on 9/11. The Evangelical could stomach four years of Biden if they got the 6-3 court ahead of the election. This is the hill they are willing to die on.. but Trump doesn't get it bc his ego won't allow him.
