Does Force Chocking work over a screen? Timothy Zahn's Outbound Flight novel had C'Baoth doing it, but I'm not sure of the canonical status of such a power. And that was a two-way video communication link between the bridges of two starships, would it work on a broad-sourced video broadcast not directed at me personally?

Do it to others all you want. God knows I would. All I am saying is that I wouldn't want to be around when it happens lest I stick out and get noticed as the instigator. Even gods have to keep a low profile lest their abuse be noticed. If you want to force people out of their pants better to do it in a safer more private place before erasing their memory of the event and the hour or so that happens immediately afterward.

I mean sure, with enough time and effort you could become strong enough to drive off all authorities and assassins and paparazzi. But do you really want to invest that much into this? And do you really want to have to deal with all that hassle?

Seriously, this whole ideological thing is tiresome. The jedi are boring self absorbed self righteous dogodders that are happy to kidnap children, brainwash and mind control people and even kill if it suits their agenda but newer use their powers to service #1 because THAT would be the bad thing. And the sith are just as bad. They are essentially evil monks of evilness for evils sake. All they both care about is the big picture and the galaxy. Forget that.

Real power isn't in making peoples lives better or making your self emperor. It's in having control over your own life. Real power is walking into a shop, waving your hand over the counter and making everyone become utterly convinced you used a pay card when in fact you just walked out with a full shopping cart without paying. Real power is using your super force reflexes to drive safely down a busy highway at 300 km/h in the supercar you just paid for with your credit hand a moment ago and than mind wiping any police officer that tries to ticket you. Real power is having that cute girl next door loose a hour or so of her day every time she bumps into you and having no recollection of the event.

That is real power. And that is the only power worth having.

The ability to move things with telekinesis, move super fast, and wield lightsabers is cool but in a modern 21st century battlefield, it’s not really a game changer. At best you’d be a slightly more powerful Magneto.

The real game is in intelligence, counter-intelligence, and the marketplace of information manipulation.

Why focus on destroying your enemies with your toolkit when your toolkit is actually well suited to preventing fights from occurring at all (while getting everything you’d want)?

The ability to move things with telekinesis, move super fast, and wield lightsabers is cool but in a modern 21st century battlefield, it’s not really a game changer. At best you’d be a slightly more powerful Magneto.

But again, why would you bother using your powers for such things? Why would you go to war to begin with? Why would you get a job as a spy?
If you have mind control you don't need a job. You can just get people to give you stuff for free and think you paid. But hell, even if you aren't willing to mind rape people or just want to make sure nobody audits you there are options. If you have magical force luck that's good enough to deflect flying bullets with a sword you can just win the lottery instead. If you have telekinesis just go into a casino and cash in. I am sure there is at least one game there that requires a small metal ball to land on exactly the spot you chose. The force simply gives you so many options to retire early and spend the rest of your life living in comfort and safety that I don't see why you would ever bother to engage with the galaxy at large.

I could spend my whole life from this point on traveling the world, living in 5 star hotels, drinking champagne and plucking maidens and nobody would even know I existed. And things only get easier in the SW universe where you really do have the entire galaxy to get lost in. So why the hell do they bother?

Not really. The jedi are in the thousands in number at best. And they couldn't even notice a Sith Lord pushing his way through politics under their nose. The sith are what... two? The galaxy meanwhile has millions of planets and trillions upon trillions of people. As long as you don't deliberately go out of your way to get onto the news or draw attention to your self and just cruise as I described you should not be noticed.

Same goes for our world if we assume that the proportional number of force users is the same.

Exactly. Just use your luck to win a game or two on occasion to finance your life style. Maybe buy some stocks using precognition to pick the next wining tech company and become an anonymous rich guy like the millions of others we newer heard about. And than occasionally go out and pick up some free groceries or cute thing that wont ever remember walking off with a complete stranger and what happened after that.

Just don't do anything stupid like entering politics, becoming famous, having a giant facebook presence or anything like that and you'll be set for a life of pleasure, high living standards and morally dubious recreational mating. No need to ever bother with good or evil.
