I'm gonna put myself out here. This is something I usually get a lot of hate and upsetting stuff for, but I'm just going to be brave and take the plunge. Come what may.
I'm a fictosexual.
This sexual identity refers to one who is exclusively attracted to fictional characters, and it is under the asexual spectrum. However, it's not a well-known sexuality and is very misunderstood. I get told a lot that it's not real/valid, that it's mocking LGBT, etc. It's hard to find a safe space within the community that is meant to be a safe space. I've tried to hide it, change my sexuality, try to force myself to be attracted to real people but it's never worked out for me. I really, really wish things could be different.
Intruiging. What exactly is 'fictional' in this context? Characters in a book described only with words, drawn characters in a comic, personas in movies (so e.g. you can be attracted to Snape, but not to Rickman) or... ?
