Yeah but they taxed us at insane rates. Also dissent was seen as treason. And the Church of England ran almost everything. So we made freedom of speech and separation of religion and the state.

It was a lot more complex than that.

If, say, an Indian student was studying abroad, and is a citizen, they’d be an American, but culturally, they’d be Indian. It doesn’t make sense to listen to non-Americans about an important American decision, just like we don’t let...Uzbek people in Uzbekistan, for example, vote in elections. Note that I said in Uzbekistan.

So, how you do define an American? Do they have to be White?

And how do you define American culture? Is it just White culture from Europe or is it Native American culture? What about Latinos, Asians, and Black people and their cultures? America is diverse.

Not to put out the wrong message here, but so what about Washington? Slave owning wasn’t an uncommon practice of the era, and if you dig though history, you’ll find loads of important figures who were grossly offensive by modern standards. Sure, it wasn’t the right thing to do, obviously, but it was just a part of life then. All this retroactive incrimination seems like it’s just eroding the history of places and people without any real benefit. Besides, there are far more names than just Washington to change if that’s the precedent we’re going to set. I can name more than ten off the top of my head.

Is there a source or article, OP?
Kedri is a nation of 18th century pirates who know water-bending. Throw in some steampunk, as well. Tech level is PT/FanT.
Kedrians abandon piracy and become a modernized country, founded by reformed criminals who forsook piracy and the citizens are descended from pirates, and still retain some of their heritage such as speech, accent, politics.

Alright, let’s see how simple I can make this.

Human not born in America. Human go to America. Human become American. Human practice not American traditions. Human American. Human practice not American culture.

America’s a land of immigrants.

Let the people of Washington decide.

Given Washington's reputation as the single most influential founding father of the US, i doubt they're keen on giving up the state's name. Personally, I couldn't care less what the state is called. when it comes to fighting racism, there's bigger fish to fry.

Sure. Some prominent pieces of culture also include, but are not limited to:

Gumbo
Fried chicken
The Pledge or Allegiance
Gun rights
Relatively free markets
Elections
The American flag
The bald eagle

I’m not sure why you’re trying your hardest to make me look like some cultural bad guy, or whatever. We’re not even arguing and you’re trying to commit a logical fallacy.

WTF? Is there any piece of American culture that many on the left don't seek to destroy in the name of SocJus?

My best friend was born in America and served in the Marine Corps for 8 years. He is a vegetarian (no gumbo or fried chicken for him), is opposed to capitalism, and is in favor of gun control. Is he un-American even though he was born here and was a marine for 8 years?

He did say "not limited to".

As far as I'm concerned, if you want to be an American and you have the option to legally become an American, you're an American to me.

If you are going to rename the state of Washington, you have to rename Washington DC.

"Rename this and rename that because x person did y thing therefore z which is named after them is a symbol of oppression!"
If we keep renaming stuff we're eventually going to live into a 1984 dystopia, with the past convoluted and ever changing. This quote from the book sums it up.
George Orwell wrote:Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. History has stopped.

Renaming things does nothing to change what the person has or has not done.
