Collins is a no go. With Alaska senator actually known for making her words on her marvick that's 2 down and 2 to go. Depending on if Collins is a flake.
Given the fact she's bucking against Mitch's dear colleague letter the chances are higher than her reputation.

Couldn't read that tweet.

I'm gonna have to disagree on the no-go. It's worded in a way that imo says "I will neither confirm nor deny" type statement.

Interesting tidbits in this piece from the Times

Judge Barrett, a member of the Federal Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, is the likely front-runner for the job as Republicans see advantages in replacing Justice Ginsburg with a woman. A former law professor at Notre Dame, Judge Barrett has a rock-star reputation in conservative circles. Her devout Catholicism prompted tough questioning by Democrats at her confirmation hearing in 2017. Her interview with Mr. Trump in 2018 for a seat on the Supreme Court was said to have not gone well.

The bolded casts Barrett in a lot of doubt to me. Trump is a very personal sort of person. Maybe it's just my own perception of the man but I kinda have doubts he'd nominate someone he personally dislikes.

Thapar and Hardiman seem a lot more likely now imo.

David Frum says McConnell might not have the votes and not nominating a woman to replace Ginsbrug could tank Trump's support with women.

Author seems to be working on out of date info, Tillis has expressed support for the move, seemingly irregardless of what it does to his own poll numbers.

I do wonder if it does come down to a vote to confirm a seat on the USSC, if they let a few repub senators vote no and create a 50-50 tie with pence breaking the tie to confirm so those few could save face and get re-elected?

I imagine that's why Collins put out a statement so quickly. It really makes me think McConnell already has the votes sealed away and gave her the go ahead to try and help her re-election prospects.

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. If the fields aren't furrowed, plow them. If the iron is not hot, make it so. If society is not ready, change it.

Sanders isn't far left, and if the people elect Biden, the people elect Biden. If Obama couldn't nominate a justice in his last year, neither can Trump.

Why should he stick to his word? If a conservative is put on the court it will secure the court for the right for the next few decades, as a conservative myself I see that as the smart thing to do because Biden could win the election

If you genuinely think that the liberal wing of the Court is far-left, then I am serious in my assessment than you have never read about a single SCOTUS justice in your entire life.
