No, I mean it when I say Jews aren't White in that most don't have sufficient European ancestry/origins and don't have skin that is light enough, nor do they have the physical characteristics associated with Europeans or White people. Jews are a middle eastern people that're closer to Arabs than any other group given that they're Semitic and are native to the Levant.

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised by the stats. Although, it's positive that more than 60% of young Americans believe holocaust education should be mandatory in all schools (with that, I agree -- and not just with regards to America).

See I dunno, I remember hearing similar concerns about knowledge about the Holocaust back in the day.

I distinctly remember the way we covered the Holocaust in my Catholic School, as part of World War 2. It was kinda hype. As part of our approach to Christmas, me and my TV fan girlfriend proposed we watch Band of Brothers, which was available in the school library. Everybody got hyped. We made popcorn, we brought snacks, and all we did in class was watch the show supplemented by a brief lesson and some discussions...

Then, we got to the Holocaust episode, and my teacher warned us, this show about war is about to get even more serious, and if people can't handle it, leave now. Everybody kinda nodded and was all meh about it... Until we got to the actual part in the show and a bunch of the kids started crying. One girl, who was a Jew herself and my ex-girlfriend, was inconsolable and had to sit outside in the hall. Luckily we had comfy couches for that. After the episode was over a few minutes later, I went outside to console her.

Her conclusion was that, as hard as it was to watch, she needed to know. We all came away better, happier, wiser people from having watched that show.

Is it really that hard to educate kids about the realities of WW2? Is it so offensive... Just how many lies are people telling their children?

We were fortunate that our Holocaust education, some years ago, was very thorough (though, I remember -- back when I was at school -- there was data that said my generation, in the UK to be clear, knew less about it than ever). We had every humanities class (history, R.E. and geography) devoted to it for about 2-3 months. We watched relevant media (Schindler's List, the Brenda Blethyn version of Anne Frank, etc), read memoirs, saw images from the period, had discussions.

It shouldn't be that hard to teach children about the realities of the Holocaust. But, although I do think a programme of Holocaust education should be compulsory -- I can't help but think that all the available misinformation may make it harder.

And that's where the government and search engines also have a role to play, in ensuring that such misinformation is clearly marked as such, to ensure that young minds who are seeking information about the Holocaust seek out trustworthy sources.

More than half (56%) said they had seen Nazi symbols on their social media platforms and/or in their communities, and almost half (49%) had seen Holocaust denial or distortion posts on social media or elsewhere online.

“The results are both shocking and saddening, and they underscore why we must act now while Holocaust survivors are still with us to voice their stories,” said Gideon Taylor, president of the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference) which commissioned the survey.

Taylor added: “We need to understand why we aren’t doing better in educating a younger generation about the Holocaust and the lessons of the past. This needs to serve as a wake-up call to us all, and as a road map of where government officials need to act.”

The survey, the first to drill down to state level in the US, ranks states according to a score based on three criteria: whether young people have definitely heard about the Holocaust; whether they can name one concentration camp, death camp or ghetto; and whether they know 6 million Jews were killed.

The top-scoring state was Wisconsin, where 42% of millennial and Gen Z adults met all three criteria, followed by Minnesota at 37% and Massachusetts at 35%. The lowest-scoring states were Florida at 20%, Mississippi at 18% and Arkansas at 17%.

Nationally, 63% of respondents did not know 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, and more than one in three (36%) thought 2 million or fewer had been killed.

Eleven per cent of respondents across the US believed that Jews had caused the Holocaust, with the proportion in New York state at 19%, followed by 16% in Louisiana, Tennessee and Montana, and 15% in Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Nevada and New Mexico.

Nationally, 44% of those questioned were able to identify Auschwitz-Birkenau, and only 3% were familiar with Bergen-Belsen. Six out of 10 respondents in Texas could not name a single concentration camp or ghetto.

Americans dont know about the 114 million Indigenous Americans killed in the American Genocide so is it suprising they dont know about deaths that occured in a foreign land. If Holocaust education should be compulsory the learning about genocide committed by Americans in the conquest of America should also be taught

You mean the spaniards and everyone else should be taught it,the spanish were the ones who had a high kill count and fucked the natives the hardest.
Also I doubt 114 million were massacred by the Europeans, otherwise everyone in the Americas and Europe (Including Peru,Chile,Bolivia And Mexico) would have known about it.

Umm the American Indian Wars are estimated to have killed 30,000 to 45,000 Native Americans over 300 years
Although the pre-Columbian population of what is now the US is hard to gauge, for North America it was between 2 and 18 million, but the overwhelming majority South of what is now the IS Mexico border. Estimates of the population in what is now the US are around 500,000.

We did some horrible stuff to Native Americans, including some genocidal actions, but these were separate actions over a long period of time, not a single plan.

So I have no idea where your claim Americans (by this I assume you mean European and African Americans) killed 114 million. It is simply not possible.

Sure millions died in from disease and wars with the Spanish and actions of the Spanish. in areas not controlled by the US, most before the US ever existed.

But that was not the US or its people doing that, and not on our land.

This is why the thesis of a singular native genocide is so flawed. It is like claiming the pogroms in the Russian Empire were part of the Nazi Holocaust. Or even more extreme that the Mongol invasions of Arab lands were part of the Holocaust because three victims were a both a Semitic people.

The Trail of Tears and Conquest of the Desert both involved genocidal stuff, but were some half a century and thousands of miles separate, by completely different governments in no coordination or communication, not part of a common plan. I mean the victims were both of the Native American “race”, but that is a entirely European idea, the victims of both these actions had no communication with or knowledge of the other, and no common identity with the other at the time.

That's fair. Diseases spread by trade or exploration, should probably be counted out. Only missing "moral crimes" because nobody really understood disease that well. But once White Europeans started setting up trading posts, they were appropriating land, and though I'm sure they were happy to get something for nothing they must have known that by European standards they were committing a crime.

'The Holocaust' is the term used for the genocide of the Jews carried out by Nazi Germany, it was only part of the genocides carried out by the Nazis, though it's usually used to refer to the whole thing in general .
