The father who brought his daughter in last summer to report abuse by Rose was the boy allegedly abused at age 12 in the 1995 case.

The department’s lack of administrative action back then may have left Rose free to offend again and again. Rose being tagged as a child sexual abuser was news to the public when he was arrested and charged last summer.

But it wasn’t news to the Boston Police Department where Rose served for two decades as a patrolman. Boston police won’t say if any disciplinary action was taken against Rose.

But it is clear the department did little or nothing to limit his contact with children and allowed him to salvage a career that led to the union presidency. Rose was allowed to have contact with vulnerable children even after the Boston Police Department learned of the alleged abuse in 1995,

Police dispatched him in 1999 to help a 14-year-old girl who was calling to report she had been raped, records show. State child welfare investigators believed in 1995 that there was evidence that a child had been abused by Rose.

This raised more questions about how the future union chief was able to keep his badge for another two decades. William J. Keefe, Rose's attorney, said he is fighting the charges.

“My client maintains his innocence to all of the charges that have been brought against him and he maintains his innocence to what was alleged to have transpired back in 1995."
Acting Mayor Kim Janey vowed to release records from the 1995 Boston police internal investigation into Rose's behavior.

The decision came amid intense pressure from mayoral candidates and members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation.

Are we really supposed to be feeling sorry for someone who charged an innocent person with a knife? Use of force is justified when someone's life is in danger.

We're feeling sorry for a young girl who made a poor decision that cost her her life. You can understand the police didn't murder that girl while also feeling bad that she wasn't raised right.

More than 200 Seattle police have quit since last year

The Seattle Police Department has said that more than 200 officers left their jobs since last year, citing an anti-police climate in Seattle, City Council policies and disagreements with department leadership.

Police Chief Adrian Diaz said Tuesday that the department is in a “staffing crisis” after more than 180 police officers quit last year and another 66 officers left their jobs so far this year, according to police data.

“We are at record lows in the city right now. I have about 1,080 deployable officers. This is the lowest I’ve seen our department,” Diaz told KING-TV.

Exit interviews with departing officers revealed that some retired early, while others left for policing jobs in different cities or private sector jobs.Activists have applauded the reductions and called for additional city police department cuts following nationwide protests over police brutality and excessive use of force targeting people of color.

“Despite an increased focus on recruitment and retention, the Seattle Police Department continues to lose sworn officers at a record pace due to ongoing budget uncertainty,” the office of Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a statement. “Based on exit interviews, we know the Council’s threats of continued layoffs or cuts are having a direct impact on decisions to leave the department.”

The City Council is considering new cuts of $5.4 million to the police department’s budget. But Durkan is cautioning against additional cuts without addressing hiring and retention of officers.

Councilmember Lisa Herbold, chair of the Public Safety and Human Services Committee, said Tuesday that the council has fully funded the police department’s hiring plan for 2021, including money to hire 114 non-sworn employees who work to address public safety issues officers.

Herbold said she has proposed a bill supporting the investments and others requested by the department, the city auditor and the city’s inspector general.

“The reductions being considered are from salary savings from officers leaving and do not reduce the number of officers SPD can hire,” Herbold said.

Diaz said the police department is hiring more community service and crime prevention officers to handle non-criminal calls, but that he remains concerned additional front-line officers are leaving the department.

“I’m hoping that it starts to level off,” Diaz said. “I do see that this year we could have a significant amount of people leaving.”

Even When Residents Call For Their Help, Minneapolis Police Won’t Go Near 38th & Chicago

This is what a police less community looks like.

From the article
Scanner audio from Thursday morning tells the story of a domestic assault victim, calling 911 for help from her home near 38th Street and Elliot Avenue.

“Is it possible to have her move at least a block away maybe 38th and 10th. Copy she is bleeding and cut everywhere but we’ll call her back and ask her to move a block away,” the audio scanner says
.

Why should the wants and wishes of white ancoms from the suburbs override local POC residents?

You can feel sorry for a teenage girl who made a poor decision while also feeling a lot of sympathy for the officer who felt he had no good choices in the situation. The situation is tragic all around.

I'd almost go so far as to say she was hardly raised at all given she was in a foster care at the time. Kids don't wind up in one of those unless the family really, really messes up.

Thus Alnair wept bitterly, lamenting the notes which had begun to fade from his memory. That is completely atrocious and the officer on that call should be fired. Its almost as if police want a disconnect between the department and community and don't want people to respect them.

Seattle can be our case study on pure community policing. Maybe reduce the police force to a hundred officers to handle situations where force is absolutely necessary and use the remainder of their old budget to pay for other social services.

By you saying this, I can tell you don’t live or know the current situation in Minneapolis. The area near George Floyd was killed as turned into an “autonomous zone”. The police are unable to go there because ancoms have but concrete barriers up and chase law enforcement away from the area.

See, I live less than 2.5 and a half miles away where George Floyd was murdered, and while I don’t live in the so-called “autonomous zone”, the crime has spilled over in surrounding neighborhoods.

Because ancoms actively chase away law enforcement. Remember “Chaz” in Seattle? This is Minneapolis’s version of it.

No, they're attempting to avoid an area which is difficult to access due to it being an autonomous zone filled with anti-police demonstrators and where their presence would almost certainly ignite violence and endanger both officers and citizens.

Nope. The only thing that would work is push the AnComs out and dismantle the so-called “autonomous zone” and open it back up.

I imagine street violence'll be needed for force the AnComs and criminal elements out.
"Then it was as if all the beauty of Ardha, devastating in its color and form and movement, recalled to him, more and more, the First Music, though reflected dimly. Thus Alnair wept bitterly, lamenting the notes which had begun to fade from his memory. He, who had composed the world's first poem upon spying a gazelle and who had played the world's first song upon encountering a dove perched upon a moringa, in beauty, now found only suffering and longing. Such it must be for all among the djinn, souls of flame and ash slowly dwindling to cinders in the elder days of the world."

See, I live less than 2.5 and a half miles away where George Floyd was murdered, and while I don’t live in the so-called “autonomous zone”, the crime has spilled over in surrounding neighborhoods.

It's not that I don't believe it, but I am curious at sauce about this.

No, they're attempting to avoid an area which is difficult to access to do it being an autonomous zone filled with anti-police demonstrators and where their presence would almost certainly ignite violence and endanger both officers and citizens.

Nope they are just being petty and spiteful. Stop acting like toddlers and do your job and if they wont do their jobs in all areas of the city resign from the force.
