Minneapolis City Council voted 11-1 to oppose the use of tear gas and other munitions as part of Minnesota's response to protesters.

Good, but now how are they going to enforce it? Usage of tear gas is banned in Brooklyn Center but cops still used it anyway. Cops are above the law and enacting new laws to limit their power doesn't seem to effect them.

These positions should be filled based on merit, and there should be no campaigns in order to be elected for such positions. We've seen time and time again that it leads to a race to the bottom where each candidate is trying to be tougher on crime than the other, and that doing the right thing - like releasing people who've been exonerated - is seen as a negative.

Quite a few people, like me, aren't convinced by the "oops I mistook my gun for my taser" line of defense by the woman who's been on the force nearly three decades. Not to mention her past of helping officers cover themselves after killing somebody: When arriving on a scene where two officers were still trying to provide medical aid to somebody they'd shot, "Officer Potter instructed Officers Turner and Akers to exit the residence, get into separate squad cars, turn off their body worn cameras, and to not talk to each other.”

Maybe it was an accident but I don't trust cops, they lie vehemently and often to cover their asses after things like this.

It's a free country, people are allowed to be outside past midnight if they want to be. There are plenty of reasons for it as well.

My K-12 began at 6 AM, so sleep time is even earlier out of necessity depending on the school.

There are many unjust shootings that happen with police, but yes, I think there is a political agenda here in this case, one of complete paranoia.
