And a lawsuit following bodycam footage that recently got posted on Facebook a year after it occurred.: Karen Garner, a 73 year old woman with dementia, was shopping at Walmart before leaving the store with $14 of merchandise without paying (A Pepsi, a candy bar, a t-shirt, and some Shout Wipe refills). Unable to communicate and confused about what was happening, Walmart employees escorted her back in, where she attempted to pay for the merchandise with a credit card before employees refused. She then left and started walking home before police caught up to her two blocks from her home and wrestled this five-foot-tall 80 pound elderly woman to the ground. She suffered a dislocated shoulder, a broken humerus, and a sprained wrist during the arrest before being held in two jail cells for a total of five hours, presumably without medical treatment since the arresting officers reported that she was not injured.
Elder abuse by police is also a national issue tbh
