For good reason, people have been protesting police brutality for awhile now.
That does not a warzone make.

Protesting doesn't involve billions in property damage and at least 20 deaths

Billions? And also, they should be help accountable. We only say 'PEACEFUl protest' when the vast majority of the protestors are peaceful and the protest is peaceful. Because there are a few insane people in there is not the majority's faulst.

There's also all the peaceful protests that start peaceful, the cops declare it to be an 'unlawful assembly' and start attacking protesters, and then it's labeled a 'riot'.

There's also the fact that property damage has been a form of protest at least as far back in American history as the Boston Tea Party, and that's actively celebrated.

Like many of the other people here have pointed out, to you no form of protest is acceptable. Blocking roads is one of the most peaceful ways to protest whilst also affecting the economics of a city. The point of protests isn't to just sit around, it's to force change. Even the civil rights movement blocked roads buddy.
