It doesn't make the slightest difference whether the anti-abortion faction has the most sincerely good intentions or is misogynistic to the core, because the impact of anti-abortion policies being made into law doesn't change based on intentions. Indeed, people who think themselves as honestly trying to do good are as a whole responsible for more suffering in this world than the selfish, spiteful, and malicious people.
Consequences matter, not intent. If you hit me with your car it doesn't make the slightest damn difference to me whether you were driving drunk or had a seizure or you were trying to get a dying person to a hospital or you hit me deliberately because you joined ISIS and wanted to run people over to commit terrorism. My injuries are the same in all cases.
The important issue is bodily autonomy and reducing economic oppression, both objectives that are best advanced by legal and safe abortion.
I do agree. I’ll also point out that there are policies the pro-life crowd could take that would reduce abortions by a much greater degree… WITHOUT disrupting anyone’s rights in the doing.
I just wish they didn’t fixate on outright bans so much.
