No, they're doing that in order to arrest or kill "Members of ANTIFA", which is illegal but most of the cops here tend to be racist and classist assholes so they don't see an issue with it.

Some of the police in Oregon are ghost skins.

Ur, smoke doesn't trigger a red flag warning. High fire danger weather (hot, dry, windy) triggers a red flag warning. Looks from the article like it was just also commenting that smoke from the west coast has made it as far west as Hawaii, but itself isn't related to Hawaii's fire danger warning.

A mass evacuation will be needed of coastal cities late October. Looks like many in LA, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle wont be able to vote this year. I am sure the country folk will vote the same way.

Sadly, with how unhealthy the air is for us, the wildlife has got no way to avoid it. :(

It's actually not the this quality this time (at least, not the majority). The smoke and fires disrupts migratory patterns and leaves birds without places to stop and rest/eat.
"Long-distance migrants flying south from tundra landscapes in Alaska and Canada pass over America’s south-west to reach winter grounds in Central and South America. During this migration it is crucial they land every few days to refuel before continuing their journey. to refuel before continuing their journey.
Historic wildfires across the western states of the US could mean they had to re-route their migration away from resource-rich coastal areas and move inland over the Chihuahuan desert, where food and water are scarce, essentially meaning they starved to death. “They’re literally just feathers and bones,” Allison Salas, a graduate student at NMSU who has been collecting carcasses, wrote in a Twitter thread about the die-off. “Almost as if they have been flying until they just couldn’t fly any more.”
The south-western states of the US have experienced extremely dry conditions – believed to be related to the climate crisis – meaning there could be fewer insects, the main food source for migrating birds. A cold snap locally between 9 and 10 September could have also worsened conditions for the birds.
Any of these weather events may have triggered birds to start their migration early, having not built up sufficient fat reserves. Another theory is that the smoke from the wildfires may have damaged their lungs. “It could be a combination of things. It could be something that’s still completely unknown to us,” said Salas."

So the air quality here has improved enough for us to open our windows and even take a walk for the first time in a couple weeks, but we're keeping a close eye on the air quality reports.

This is the impact of climate change and other forms of environmental degradation. This is just going to get worse and worse. If we try really hard now we might be able to limit it to only getting moderately worse. The fact of the matter is that disasters like this (and the pandemic and many others) are just the new normal, this is going to be the struggle for the young's entire lives, Millenials, Gen Z, and their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, will have to live with frequent disasters.

P.S. Apparently, I am somewhere in between Millenial and Gen Z.

I was born Feb 2, 1996. I am the elder sibling, my younger brother was born Dec 28, 1998. However, my father delayed updating to new technology, so I didn't get my first video game till I was 9, I didn't have access to cable till I was 9, I was still using VHS tapes when I was 8, and I was a late adopter of cell phones (I got my first flip phone when smart phones were first coming out, and I did not get my first smart phone till 2014), and still don't really use Social Media (I don't even have a Facebook page or Twitter account). Though I did play online when I was a kid, my father did let me and my brother use a computer, I spend 90%+ of my waking life online.

I didnt have internet access at home till age 13. When I was a kid, we lived in an apartment and then in a run down house with cracks in the walls, cold drafts and leaks, so we weren't up to date on tech.

My mom still hasn't gotten past 1999. She thinks I email my friends and don't just text them, and she once volunteered to "spring for tickets" to the dance for me and my now ex girlfriend. Not the Asian one, the Arab one. That's a tangent but I have enough ex's to write my own Taylor swift song. But anyways, my mom is very behind the times even now.
