I know how you feel Therm. I mean when I got home, I wanted to watch Pokémon and this was back when the first season was first shown in the United States. I was where was my cartoons so I asked my parents what had happened that morning. I cried that day when I heard how many people died. To this day, no terrorist attack has been able to reach the death toll reached that day. To all families affected by this terrorist attack, we will never, ever forget.

Back in the day Jews, under the euphamism of "those of Semitic blood or descent," were included in racially restrictive covenants in property deeds that prevented them from living in certain areas of US cities. Here's one from Minneapolis in 1919:

...the premises herein described shall not at any time be conveyed, mortgaged or leased to any person or persons of Chinese, Japanese, Moorish, Turkish, Negro, Mongolian, Semitic or African blood or descent.

So the question of whether Jews are or are not "white" is a little misleading. They were walled off from "Caucasians" in many legal and social senses (not allowed to join certain clubs, etc.) and discriminated against in ways large and small.

And yet many Christians believe Jesus was white. Go figure.

There honestly isn't much of a story. Smart phones weren't a thing, and I was out in the woods by myself on that previous weekend and was through-hiking. I'm pretty experienced and was 22 years old at the time and in fantastic shape, so I would provision for several days at a time. 9/11 happened on that Tuesday and I rolled through a small town near the trail on Thursday and got some lunch, and that's where I found out
