I was at school, they sent us all home and I saw it on the tele. My Mum wouldn't let us watch any more because of the people who were jumping. I wasn't very old at the time so I didn't really understand too much but it's horrible to think back to that moment now.

I was hung over as shit and watching cartoons (Bug's Bunny if I recall correctly), when a friend called and told me to put on the news, I saw the second plane hit, and proceeded to call all of my friends and family, just to touch base...

In my Kindergarten classroom, I had just started in my new elementary school. iirc I was drawing at my desk, when the teacher came in blowing her nose. She told us to line up, and that we were going to the auditorium. The entire school was there, with CNN on the projector screen. Sat there for about an hour, then buses came and brought us home. My mom's friend died that day.

At home, calling it a night from another day of third grade. Didn't learn about 9/11 until I woke up the following morning.

Of course, September 11th also happens to be the birth anniversary of my country's most infamous dictator, so there's that as well.

At school. I was still in elementary. I actually heard about the attack on the pentagon from a friend before the news about the World Trade Centre. The teacher then sat us down and told us that this day would go down in history. I saw the footage of it all on the news that night.

It was a beautiful morning. I was getting ready to go for a run when a friend called to ask if i was watching the news. I was glued to the TV for the next three years.

I live just outside the NYC metro area, essentially where commuters live. So it's never been uncommon for me to meet people who knew someone or almost knew someone who lost their lives that day. Most people older than I remember it clearly, too.

Rather wouldn't say, but at the time my mother was working in Madison, WI, and she said she went on a walk after she saw it on the news and there were snipers on the capitol building.
Edit: I also remember one of my teachers talking about it. She was in fourth grade and everyone in her school was brought into the cafeteria to watch the TV and be talked to about it. Obviously most of the kids were really shocked something like that could've happened since these kids had been raised in post-9/11 for a couple hours.

I don't remember what I was doing then, the ninth of November 2001 wasn't particularly special for me.

Now 11-9-2001 I came home from school and was chatting with friends online when one them said "whoa, now another plane is flying in". After which I turned on the TV.

Watching the second plane fly in live on TV was definitely surreal.

Have two stories. Grandmother went on a flight from the airport the terrorists flew off in. Me and my mother were scared to heck after the news. Turns out, she wasn't on the plan,e and survived.
My aunt was on the bottom stories when the attack happened. She got out of the building and helped others get to safety before they fell. Also survived.
