I was northwest of the epicentre.
It was a bit shaky but wasn’t too bad.
Heart goes out to all of those in the southeast.
Even though it was in the richest suburb.

There are people who think that Palaszczuk is waiting till after the NRL grand final to lock down Queensland

Melbourne's Anti-Vax protestors are putting signs of Janet Young saying that the AZ vaccine is unsafe for 18-40 year olds. I wonder if Daniel Andrews is pleased with her...

Perth was under some strict shit from what I heard for the AFL Grand Final… not that I want to talk about that, after what happened to my glorious western bulldogs.
Some fucking idiots from Victoria (Melbourne Demons supporters) travelled to Perth and snuck into the game despite Victorians being specifically banned from entering WA.

https://www.michaelwest.com.au/dee-why-rsl-pokies-prodigious-profits-and-personal-tragedy/

Somabout money laundering through pokies machines in NSW, and the attitude of ClubsNSW towards
those who attempt to report it.

Why not introduce a cashless gambling card? I know it sounds a lot like the cashless welfare card, but at least the CGC would allow people to go, 'ok, I've spent this much, my card's maxed out, better knock off the pokies for tonight'.

Additionally, due to a loophole in broadcasting legislation, gambling and alcohol products cannot be advertised at any time, unless it is part of a live sporting event. Take a look at your average NRL game - ads for fast food, alcohol and gambling are everywhere. In urban areas, it's just a walk around the corner to your local club or bottle shop. In most rural areas, it's about 10-50 kilometres apart, maybe 100-200km in really remote areas. Maybe this is just me, but it's almost as if it seems that they're designed to be everywhere.

Now, I know people will say, 'oh, but, people can just exclude themselves from gambling venues, set limits, get help'. To some degree, that's true. However, I would also say, 'take a look at the average gaming room. Flashing lights, sounds and bright colours, as well as food and drink not far out of reach'. Do you think some people would think to do something in an environment like that? Not to mention the stigma that can surround gambling addiction.

And I do understand poker machines might generate extra revenue for 'mom and pop-operated pubs', but that's usually not the sort of place I mean. I'm talking about the sports clubs, e.g, "Mount Whichway Leagues Club', owned by old, decently wealthy people. I do not mean the pubs that are family-owned and just have, idk, a couple of poker machines that contribute a little more to paying the operating costs of the place.
I mostly mean the clubs.

I'm just saying: I think the alcohol/gambling problem that affects many Australians is just
a by-product of greed.

I'd say WA's State Government's doing a pretty good job, although McGowen was throwing lockdowns around willy nilly when there was just one case in Perth

It’s a great idea. It was also a great idea back when the Gillard government attempted to introduce something along those lines. Apparently it’s unAustralian, though.

Same argument people made against Opal cards. The sky didn’t fall then, either.

Who d'you reckon will be next in line, Barilaro or Perrotet?
My bet's on Perrotet.

Wonder what post-politics job she's getting, and the fall-out effects this will have.

The Victorian government has done something so utterly stupid, that I think I lost a few brain sells just reading it

Once golf courses (in Victoria) finally open after lockdown, the toilets will remain locked

I don't know what to say to that. I guess they'll save on fertiliser...

What do y'all feel about the country opening it's international borders by Christmas? (except WA, where it'll split off and become it's own isolationist empire ruled by God Emperor of the Earth Mark McGowan) I think by somewhere mid-2022, just to make sure no more waves will pop up (looking at u VIC and NSW) but a part of me feels like it sounds reasonable, whilst the other part makes me feel like it'll start a whole new wave in Australia.
