The male and female genitals are naturally compatible. Man and woman are designed for coitus. A certain part of the human anatomy, including the mouth, isn't. Now trying to wade back to the topic. i think it was a way to keep the folks apart from the pagan sects that allowed or encouraged homosexuality. Much like the dietary laws kept the people from eating together and socializing over food.

I would want someone more qualified to comment but even back then there was a divide between the cosmopolitan cities and the pastoral County; and the folks with the sheep were then as now more conservative in outlook.
