As much as I hate to admit it, Russia is the only candidate I’d argue for. The Eastern Roman Empire was a direct continuation of the Roman Empire, and it was dissolved by the Ottoman scourge, which renders the Byzantine throne useless to the Spaniards. Thus bloodline is the most valid continuation, therefore Russia is the Third Rome. I hate it, though. Almost as much as I despise Turkey in cases.
