If you call one of the highest per-capita death rates on the planet "working pretty well".

Not according to what the government is saying. They are planning additional measures.
And many local lockdowns have been happening in recent weeks in the UK, and the trend is spreading quite rapidly.UK faces 50,000 Covid cases a day by mid-October if current infection rate not halted, warns top government scientist Sir Patrick Vallance

"The seasons are against us," says Prof Whitty. "We are now going into the seasons... that benefit respiratory viruses."
It's very likely Covid will benefit from autumn and winter, he says.
He says it will be a "six-month problem that we will have to deal with collectively".
"This period of the next six months needs to be taken seriously," he says.

Wait am i getting paid to go on a date with her? Or do i have to pay to go on the date?
If its the former sure i'd go with her for a night out, have a few drinks, go for a wee drunken curry at 2am and then i call her a tory cunt and get her a taxi home.

It is what the dodgy Russian Conservative Party donor paid for a night out with Theresa. They also paid £150,000 to play tennis with Cameron and Johnson.

There's one thing I think it might stop: it may curtail the ability of symptomless people to go on pub crawls, and spreading the bug to goodness knows how many venues.
Of course, I don't think that is a majority of drinkers. But I do think it might limit those taking the least precautions, which may include some of those that I've seen on the local news (still trying to behave like they did before COVID).
But, generally, I do agree that the government are doing very little, and trying to seem like they're taking significant steps.
