He's no more a Stuart than Elizabeth II, though. The House of Stuart itself has been extinct since 1807 although several non-royal branches of Clan Stewart (or Stuart) continue to persist in Scotland, the most senior of which is headed by the Earl of Galloway.

PSNI report of a bomb outside an SDLP MLA office in North Belfast.

Oh boy I wonder which cunts did this. I wonder who has been making threats of violence over something contentious lately whilst also ramping up displays of intimidation.

Interesting trivia point about the Jacobite Succession (which, let's be clear, has long-since become a slightly diverting hypothetical rather than a serious proposition)...

The 87-year-old Franz, Duke of Bavaria, has never married, and has no legitimate children. His heir is his 84-year-old brother Prince Max, Duke of Bavaria (shame he didn't marry Queen Maxima of the Netherlands). Now, Max only has daughters. The Wittelsbach succession follows Salic Law, so his daughters can't inherit the family's (abolished) Bavarian titles. However, they can inherit the claim to the Jacobite Succession; so (assuming Franz predeceases Max) the Wittelsbach and Jacobite successions will separate on Max's death.

Max's eldest daughter - and thus the eventual presumptive heir to the Jacobite Succession - is Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein the wife of Alois, the current heir to and regent of Liechtenstein's princely throne.

The eldest son of Sophie and Alois, who will one day become the ruling prince of Liechtenstein and heir to the Jacobite succession is Prince Joseph Wenzel.

"Why have you gone into this frankly insane level of detail on the future of the Jacobite Succession, Arch?", I hear you asking.

Well, because this is Liechtenstein's national anthem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbK2uk2 ... onorsMusic

Coincidence?

I think not; at last the depth of the cunning Jacobite long-game is revealed.

And I, for one, welcome our new Liechtensteiner overlords. I'd like to remind them as a trusted NationStates moderator, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their Alpine salt mines.

Corbyn could breathe loudly and there would be a full page in the Sun about how he is a traitor who wants to murder the Queen's dogs.

Is this the latest progressive thought? Dogs aren't dogs unless they positively identify as dogs?

I think the deal was pretty remarkable. I don't think even Brexiteers truly thought we'd get something so good.

Also, interesting to see how the EU have made complete fools of themselves over the whole vaccination debacle. Literally threatening to put a border on the island of Ireland just weeks after Brexit, only to backtrack. They look weak and indecisive. Not to mention the fact that their vaccination programme is poor, to say the least.

I honestly don't think the UK has been as united as it has in the past few weeks, for a long time. Obviously you will always get a minority who are desperate for us to fail, but I think most people are coming together and happy that the UK is doing well.

And I say all this as someone who campaigned hard for remain.

Borish Johnson has shown us that he is both incompetent, and does not care about his people. This has been shown by the pandemic and brexit. He dealt with the pandemic awfully, and struck a brexit deal that will ruin the UK's economy more than it has been ruined by the pandemic. In conclusion, Boris Johnson is useless.

They do (info below). And they literally threatened to create a border on the island of Ireland, to block vaccinations getting into the UK. Only to backtrack, making themselves look rather ridiculous.

Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands were forced by their respective Chancellors and Prime Ministers to write to von der Leyen, apologising for their efforts to buy Covid-19 vaccines on behalf of their health systems. It was, they conceded, ‘of utmost importance to have a common single and joint approach to the various pharmaceutical companies’.

The EU doesn't have a vaccination programme, as in, a programme to vaccinate people. The EU isn't deciding in what order we will be vaccinating different segments of our population. The EU is buying all the vaccines, because it's a trade bloc, that's kinda how the thing works.

You're both sort of right, and both sort of wrong; you're talking past each other to score cheap points when you probably both known better.

The Queen only has one remaining household pet dog, her dorgi Candy. Her least pure-bred corgi died in 2018, and the other remaining dorgi (the gloriously named Vulcan) in 2020. As Ifreann notes, she stopped breeding either corgis or dorgis in 2015 because she didn't want to leave any dogs behind when she died. She also used to keep cocker spaniels.

The Queen does indeed also own gun dogs; certainly at Sandringham. However, these are working dogs, and until fairly recently were also bred commercially. They're not owned as household pets, and the kennels have not stopped breeding them in preparation for the Queen's death. They will carry over the Charles and William.

So Ifreann's phrasing that 'the Queen doesn't have dogs any more' was technically incorrect, but it was clear from context that he was referring to the household pets specifically rather than the working dogs. The Nihilistic view was correct to point out that the Queen owns gun dogs, but presumably deliberately chose to ignore the context of Ifreann's point.

It would be fair to point out that in several households the line between working dogs and household pets is blurred, but it's clear that the Queen categorises the dogs that lived at 'home' and she feels directly emotionally responsible for (the corgis and dorgis at the Palace and Windsor Castle) separately from her working dogs on the Sandringham estate. Ifreann's point was entirely correct if limited to the former.
